SBR: Quitting my job. More time for reading!
I put my notice in yesterday. I'll be leaving my current job at the end of the month. I basically work as a mobile therapist for children in a therapeutic foster care placement. There's a lot of driving involved, since our foster homes are about an hour away from our office and the children's family homes may be even farther. I put in a lot of overtime and work most nights, so I'm not home a lot. In terms of money, I pretty much work to pay for daycare. We weren't planning on me leaving so soon, but there have been some recent changes that would have me driving even farther and working even more hours. So, I bit the bullet and put my notice in. I'm really excited to be a SAHM and be able to put more of my focus on my girls and my marriage. I'm also really excited that I'll be able to Nest again (YAY!) and read more. We just got rid of our cable and got Hulu Plus instead, so I'm not watching as much TV. With all that excitement, I am still scared shitless about this. I haven't been without a job since I was 16.
I can't wait to be around the board more and talk about books. I've been reading a lot of non-fiction books about minimalism, saving money, and simplifying life lately. I just finished the first Vampire Academy book, and I'm slowly making my way through the second. There are so many awesome books to get my hands on! I can't wait to catch up with all of the recs from NBC.
