Trying to add a post for the slow day!

How's everyone been doing? Things have been insane lately with dd's bday and back to back out of town guests and parties. Plus a cold and allergies. Not to mention being busy with dd's sports 5 days a week!! Oh and I posted awhile ago my gym was sold well they finally ended up closing it so I have to accept my new gym. I miss some of my instructors!!

I'm still trying to get a few Zumba classes in and running here and there. A week or so ago I ran without the dog who sometimes is a bit too distracting. I had an amazing run and did 5K in just under 28 mins...one of my best times! Otherwise I feel my running has been up and down. Last night I did 5 miles which is my longest but I did walking breaks. I was still able to do it in around 50 mins so not horrible I guess. Some days I can run miles without a break and other days I feel like I'm dying!

Re: Fitness post

  • I can honestly say that things are going better than they had been going...mainly because I finally bit the bullet and signed up for a fitness class through work!  So, the fact that I paid for it and it's over my lunch break and not my own time at home, have kept me going there twice per week.

  • I 'ran' a 5k on Saturday and it was pretty abysmal. I had very little time to train leading up and it showed. I'm taking a bit of a running/gym break for now. I've been doing long walks (I work on a gorgeous campus that is rather hilly, so the walks are less tortorous then going on a treadmill. I also tried a yoga class last night and really enjoyed it, so I'm thinking I'd like to incorporate that more.
  • Had my 6 week appt yesterday and all clear to return to exercising! I actually missed it. I have plenty of baby weight to still lose and for me exercise is key with eating better. Did an on demand cardio workout today for 39 mins and 5 min ab workout. Oh I'm so out if shape. Kinda ticks me off I let myself get to this. Oh well. Hoping to sign up for a 5 k in the fall to get me training again and hope to find a class one day a week to change it up. We shall see. I figure my arms are getting a good workout carrying the baby boo around! Ha.
  • I started the 21 Day fix back on May 19 and it incorprates an eating plan with workout videos. In those 21 days, I think I only missed 1 day of working out. I started round 2 of the fix on Monday and worked out Tues, Wed, & Thurs. I also tired to run yesterday which was a huge disaster. I shouldn't be suprised since I hadn't run since 5/11, but it was still discouraging.

  • I've been trying to get to the gym 3 times a week, plus yoga on Mondays.

Would anyone want to do a fitness challenge using an app called Fit You?  I am not sure if it's a free app or not (I got it for free using the "Apps Gone Free" app).  But anyway, you can start a group and set a points goal.  Different types of activity earn you points.  So you can set it that you are supposed to earn 15 points in two weeks.  (I did one just for me and for example a one hour yoga class was 3 points, zumba was 3 points).  There's no money involved or anything, just bragging rights if you win.   If anyone decides they want to do it, I can set it up.

I just started the 21 Day Fix on Monday!  I realized that NONE of my shorts from last year fit me, so I did it out of desperation, but so far I really like it and it has been somewhat "easy" to follow.

This is my first good week in a while - I have worked out every day.  In addition to the work outs, I also started C25k again and have done days 1 and 2 of week 1.  My running has really taken a hit, so I'm just starting over!

Amber - I would do that app thing!

  • I would do the app thing too. I need some sort of accountability!
  • The app sounds fun:)
  • My shorts don't fit me either.  What's the 21 day fix?

  • My clothes fit, but not well. I finally bit the bullet and went to get fitted for running shoes. AFTER I had done 3 miles walking/jogging in my neighborhood. My HIPS are angry! But, I hope to do it again tonight in the new (hopefully better) shoes! The app sounds fun. I have an UP, but no one else seems to have one, everyone has a fitbit.
