I went to a new dentist today and had a cleaning, exam, and price quote done. The hygenist was very gentle and listened when I told her I was nervous and the metal insturments hurt me. She put numbing gel on my gums and it helped so much. They were able to quote me $3000 less than the other dentist. If I don't need root canals (fingers crossed) it will be an extra $1800 less. The only problem is they are out of network. I thought they were in network, but no, they just took our insurance out of network. Tomorrow I am having an exam done by a 3rd dentist that is in network. In fact I think I will call them again to double check. The total is still a lot, but I am freaking out a little less now.
