Help our fireplace!

I need ideas on how to renovate our fireplace on the cheap. I was thinking about painting the brass with a satin nickel spray paint and painting both the tile and grout white. Any other ideas!

Re: Help our fireplace!

  • Fireplaces get hot and therefore if you're painting the brass metal you need to use a proper paint that is suitable for high heat. Rustoleum makes a paint that is black and it's high heat suitable. You have to brush it with a paint brush. Two coats. We have 2 older gas fireplaces in our home with the brass on them and we used this paint just fine.
  • There is actually a high-heat spray paint now too, but I believe they only offer a few colors. Check around your area to see what's offered - they may have different colors at Home Depot vs. Lowes.
