I have a 4 year old dog that barks non stop every time myself and BF leave the house. I didn't discipline him like I should have when he was a puppy so this has developed into a problem. Not only that but we have two other dogs who don't have this problem but when he starts he gets them barking too. Any advice on how to stop a grown dog from incessant barking would be greatly appreciated!
Re: Barking Dog---HELP!!
I had been keeping them (I have 3) in my laundry room (it's a pretty big room). I thought after doing some research that if I gave them a larger area to hang out in during the day that it would help. I haven't gotten anymore complaints from neighbors (which is how this all started). I will still try the frozen kong idea, I hadn't thought of that.
Thanks!
Make sure he gets enough exercise every day -- walks and let him go for a good run at the doggie park for at least an hour twice a week.
Tarpon is correct that a tired pup is a happy pup. Make sure they get plenty of excercise.
I'm in a similar situation.
I have a 10+ year old dog who barks incessantly when he's outside. Oh, is that a leaf? WOOF WOOF! SO ANNOYING. My other dog gets irritated by it, too. Unfortunately, I didn't get him as a pup and have no idea what the previous owners did to him. I've had him for almost 9 years, though, and barking is something I can NOT get him to stop doing.
I have tried everything, including those shock collars. He barks right through them. I know he's being shocked (you can hear his bark change when it happens), and I feel terrible about it. The problem in the area I live in is that a neighbor can report the dog barking and the owners get quite a hefty fine.
