Where did you buy your appliances?

Hi everyone! My fiance and I just bought a house this week. We are very excited! It comes with all kitchen appliances, thankfully! However, I think our first big purchase is going to be a washer/dryer and a tv. Where do you think the best deals are? Where did you use? Would you still purchase from there?

Re: Where did you buy your appliances?

  • Go Local for big appliances. You'll get more support if they break.  If you look at Consumer Reports for appliances you'll notice that the model numbers are slightly (one letter or number) different, the box stores get appliances that use cheaper parts, that's how they're able to pass on deep discounts, they have bigger buying power and are buying a slightly cheaper product so they appear to be passing on a fantastic deal.  when their appliances work as expected they're great, and you got a bargain. however when they break good luck getting any support from whoever you purchased from.

for the washer/dryer I'd look into a local place (and if any of your bigger kitchen stuff breaks, fridge, oven, dishwasher).  For the TV I'd say go with a box store, unless you're buying some giant entertainment package.
