Where did you buy your appliances?

Hi everyone! My fiance and I just bought a house this week. We are very excited! It comes with all kitchen appliances, thankfully! However, I think our first big purchase is going to be a washer/dryer and a tv. Where do you think the best deals are? Where did you use? Would you still purchase from there?

Re: Where did you buy your appliances?

  • We bought a refrigerator from Best Buy at our old house back in 2008. It went fine. It was a black Samsung. Side by side with an ice maker/water in door. No complaints. We have also purchased various cameras and computers from there and have not had any trouble.

    I would go back there.

My parents bought us a washer/dryer set as a house warming gift at the old place too. From Sears. Again, fine.

For a TV I think you'll get the best and most knowledgeable help at BEst Buy.

  • I was just discussing Sears v Best Buy with my mom last night!
  • We just bought a new stove from Lowes. Home improvement stores are always a good place to start. With Washer/Dryers there are so many choices - top loader/front loader, on a stand/not on a stand, color choices, clear door, not clear door, gas/electric. Top loaders also have a with a middle spinner and without a middle spinner...
I'd walk around a bunch of stores and look at them all and make a list of your favorite ones.

  • For your electronics, check out B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com). Most stores will even price-match their deals, because despite doing much of their business online, they do have an actual store location in New York.

  • Congrats on your new home! I am not sure where you are located but would suggest you check out ABT Electronics. They have an online site as well as store. They are located just outside of Chicago. They have really nice quality products there and are a wealth of information. I also think that they have won national customer service awards which is a huge plus in my book. Hope that helps.

If you are interested, I have been in the housewares world for 14 years and am always researching and sharing info on products from appliances to cooking related tools. You might find what I share helpful. Or if you have questions, just reach out and I will help if I can.

Congrats! We bought most of ours from the local Sears Outlet. Got great deals on appliances that were new but with minor damage. Like I care about a scratch on my fridge!
  • Thanks, everyone! We are SW suburbs of Chicago, @inspiringkitchen! Still waiting to close so we haven't bought much, just looking so far..
  • For a washer and dryer, how about a Speed Queen? I've heard stories of people who had them for 30+ years, and they're still made in the US!
