Monday Accountability Post

1. How MM was your weekend?

2. Any progress towards goals?

3. Would you rather have a chef to cook meals for you or a housekeeper to clean for you?

Re: Monday Accountability Post

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Good. Got some groceries for $45, and then put a deposit on our house which was $3670 ($1000 normal deposit, plus cost of sprinkler system- all will be used towards closing). Other than that, nothing!

    2. Any progress towards goals? Yes, we found the house!!! Not a MM goal, but still an awesome one.

    3. Would you rather have a chef to cook meals for you or a housekeeper to clean for you? , Housekeeper hands down! I HATE all the laundry, dusting sucks, and so does cleaning the bathrooms.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? It was great- groceries ($120).. that was it!

    2. Any progress towards goals? Nothing new- DH is working on some house projects and our day care bill this month is only $1,100- about $600 less than usual now that the girls are home Mondays and Fridays for the summer.

    3. Would you rather have a chef to cook meals for you or a housekeeper to clean for you? Housekeeper for sure- I mentioned in last week's post, we'll be getting a cleaning service once the girls are out of day care and I can't wait!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?  Good, we stuck right on our budget. We did not spend any extra, and I sold 3 items online and stashed the cash for bills.

    2. Any progress towards goals?  We wrote down, to the penny, everything we spent. We wrote our meal plan, menu and did all our grocery shopping. We are keeping our budget notebook out and looking at it daily, talking about it daily.

    3. Would you rather have a chef to cook meals for you or a housekeeper to clean for you?   A housekeeper!!   I don't mind cooking, I hate cleaning!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Great!  We spent $13 at Subway after the 5k race on Thursday, then absolutely nothing the rest of the weekend. Not bad at all for being a long/holiday weekend

    2. Any progress towards goals?  Put more into savings for baby. Also finally came in under $400 with groceries last month.  Exactly $386 :-)

    3. Would you rather have a chef to cook meals for you or a housekeeper to clean for you?  Housekeeper for sure. I love to cook, but would rather not clean.

    1) Ours was pretty good.  We spent about $110 on groceries, but that included some fun ingredients to make caprese salad, pizzas, etc.  Other than that, we made no purchases.

    2) No progress this week - though our seller has asked to do a lease-back because they don't think they can be out of the house by closing.  I'm on the fence. On the one hand, we would come out ahead because our mortgage is more than our rent would be if we stayed in the apartment for another month or two.  On the other hand, I have this vague notion that they might want an additional extension and/or they would overstay their lease term... in which case I would have to start eviction proceedings.  I know that's not very likely, but I see it at my job all day long so I'm kind of paranoid about it.

    3) If the housekeeper would do the dishes after I cook, then that's what I would pick all day long.

  • 1. All budgeted stuff-$80 groceries, $55 oil change, $40 beer for a party (to share!), $20 moving supplies

    2. We just keep padding our short-term savings for the move! So far we're cruising ahead towards our close; @hoffse, I hope the lease-back situation goes ok!

    3. Housekeeper for sure! I hate cleaning and I tend to not be very thorough. Yes, I realize I can/should work on it. I love cooking though!

Thanks!  Honestly, my gut says not to do it.  I'm willing to delay closing for a couple weeks, but I don't want to be a landlord.

For one thing, they would turn the house back over to us without some "final walkthrough" where we could pull out if they trashed it.  For another, if they overstayed then I would have to evict.  And finally, I would have to report that rent on my taxes as income.  I think I would rather push back closing so that the house is ours to possess after we close.

Definitely-that sounds much safer. I'm sure they'll appreciate you working with them on the close date.
  • @hoffse Sorry you can't get into the house right at closing, but I would definitely request closing just be delayed a few weeks instead.

Yikes...not very good at all! We closed and moved into our new condo last Monday. Since then we have definitely bought quite a bit of stuff. Cleaning supplies, groceries, and random odds and ends during the week. On Saturday we bought a new TV and on Sunday some IKEA furniture. Nothing is on credit (well, it is but we pay it off completely every month) and we have the funds but we need to cool it with the large purchases now.

    2. Any progress towards goals?

Well we are done throwing all our extra money in savings since closing is done so we put extra towards H's SLs and our car payment this month.

    3. Would you rather have a chef to cook meals for you or a housekeeper to clean for you?

Definitely a chef. I really don't enjoy cooking unless it involves baking desserts. I hate meal planning! Cleaning doesn't bother me much except for vaccuuming.

Pretty good.  Only non-cash items were $33 for breakfast out and around $12 for July 4th snacks for watching fireworks
    2. Any progress towards goals?
Okay.  A little low on savings for this half month because of a medical bill.
    3. Would you rather have a chef to cook meals for you or a housekeeper to clean for you?
Definitely a housekeeper.  I actually enjoy meal planning and cooking but loathe cleaning bathrooms.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

Everything was budgeted and paid in cash, except $100 at Hard Rock Cafe, which we will be paying off next month. But other than that, we stayed within budget for gas, groceries, and our vacation in New York all weekend long.

    2. Any progress towards goals?

Now that we are budgeting so much better, I was able to put away DH's overtime ($227) into our payoff savings account. We are almost at our bill payoff amount. I'm just waiting to payoff a deductible for H's car and we can pay off the rest.

    3. Would you rather have a chef to cook meals for you or a housekeeper to clean for you?

I love cooking and baking, and while I don't mind cleaning, I rather not do it. Housekeeper it is!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Not too good, got a speeding ticket as the person in front of me slowed down then moved over in front of the cops so they could nail me prior to me seeing them.  I really hate driving in rush hour traffic.  Other than that we paid cash for everything.

    2. Any progress towards goals? Nothing more than our normal paying of bills with some that we pay extra towards.  MW did say that we are under 60k on our mortgage again from refinancing last year to a 15 year mortgage with lower interest than her 30 year mortgage.

    3. Would you rather have a chef to cook meals for you or a housekeeper to clean for you? Housekeeper hands down, neither MW or like like to clean.  Especially if the housekeeper does dishes and her laundry.

  • I would much rather have a chef cook our meals.  As much as cleaning may annoy me I'm totally OCD about cleaning.  One time I hired a cleaning crew to clean up the house and I ended up cleaning up after them.  I have high standards.

$165 on groceries and another $99 on randoms at Sams. We needed to stock up on things!

    2. Any progress towards goals?
    Not really.

    3. Would you rather have a chef to cook meals for you or a housekeeper to clean for you?
Housekeeper! I would love cooking more if I didn't have to clean up!
