Books?

DH and I have been through quite a rough patch, and have been in couples counseling for a while.  We're working on changing up our fairly vanilla sex life, and our therapist recommended we look (together) at books that may help us spice things up.  I browsed through amazon, but was wondering if anyone had suggestions?  I'm currently reading "The Good Girls' Guide to Bad Girl Sex" just for me.  Any help very much appreciated.

Re: Books?

  • I don't think it matters what book. I don't think you need a book to spice things up. My DH is dyslexic and he says that when I read to him it makes him feel closer to me and that he likes my "reading voice" I am currently reading a chapter to him each night from Steven King's Under the Dome. We don't usually get to watch the show but he said he likes the premise.

Emotional closeness needs to comes before physical intimacy.

  • I agree with PP, emotional intimacy needs to come before physical intimacy.

DH loves it when I read to him, he couldn't care less what I read he just likes hearing my voice. We read books together like the Hunger Games, Divergent, some romance. It is amazing how much difference taking half an hour for each other can make. Sometimes DH even rubs my feet/legs while I read. We don't read everyday because of his work schedule, but it is something that we try to make a priority.

I don't think you need to read any specific books to spice things up, but some couples swear by reading 50 Shades of Grey. Personally I hated the book, but to each his own.
