This is an article written by a guy I went to university with.  He teaches me a lot about the kind of person I'd like to be when I grow up:

  • What a wonderful piece. It's so easy to focus on everything that goes wrong, it's nice to read something like this.
  • I really liked this! I saw a Ted talk (or something of the sort) on happiness a while back, and this was one of the things the speaker said was shown to increase happiness. I wrote it, and the other things listed, down but haven't bothered to try it yet. Maybe I'll see if I can do this tonight!

A gratitude journal is a beautiful idea, I might have to start doing that. I read something a long time ago about how people who considered themselves lucky were actually making their own luck by keeping themselves open to opportunity and seizing the things that came their way, while people who considered themselves unlucky were missing things that could have helped them because of their negative outlook. That, like this article, really resonated with me.
