Favorite dog toy?

My pup will be 2 at the end of this month. There are such a wide variety of dog toys available I was wondering if anyone had anything their dog couldn't live without? His favorites right now are a tug rope, balls, and a stuffed shark that squeaks.

  • our girl is a toy destroyer...we're big fans of the extreme KONGs and Nylabones

  • Mine is a destroyer too! He loves the classic kong, he is large and a puppy but prefers to play with the one he has from when he was a puppy.  And he has a nylabone ( a big one) that he loves to chew on.

  • Both of my beags have a favourite toy that refer to as their soulmates. Scout's is a Martha Stewart bear we gave to her when we got her and Bandit's is a no-name puppy dog. They get upset when they can't find them, cuddle them, kiss them, and bring them with to bed sometimes. It is super cute. All other toys end up engaged in epic battles of tug of war and get destroyed. Scout's had her soulmate for 3 years and Bandit has had his soulmate for 2 years.

I have a two year old german shepherd, here are four of her favorite toys

Great for playing catch, can also stuff with old rags for dog to pull out.

Size of a soccer ball easy for dogs to pickup great for kicking it with the dog

Ball that squeaks will drive you crazy, but my dog LOVES it

This was the best toy I have gotten by far, it is still in great condition and I have had it a year now my dog plays with it all the time

    Hope this help you!

  • I have a 9month old black lab/border collie and he destroys all toys!
He loves his KONGs but one toy he will never live without is this cheap $5 squeaky bouncy ball.

    Squeaky Ball

He is never without it. I actually recently bought 2 more to keep hidden in case he finally destroys it.
  • The Kong with a half of a spoonful of peanut butter in it- it keeps them occupied for quite some time!
  • DH and I don't do squeaky. We had that kong tennis ball that squeaks and it was quite the happy day when he killed the squeaker. He loves the kick/fetch ball. It's always a big hit with the neighbor kids or at the dog park.
I actually let him pick out stuffed animal at the pet store. He chose a big stuffed beaver that has a velvety tail that he sucks on. So far, no stuffing has been ripped out of it.

  • Our little 3 year old guy loves this blue squeaky elephant and green dice thing that dispenses treats when you roll it a certain way that he's had since he was a puppy. Our 8 month old big puppy is a destructo-dog. He has destroyed nylabones, kongs, you name it! We have elk antlers that we get from a local pet shop that he loves.... ropes are good for him too (he loves tug-o-war but usually destroys the ropes in a week or two)
  • Both of our dogs destroy Kongs and nylabones, the best toy that keeps them busy for hours is the Jolly pet Teaser Ball

The only thing to watch out for is not to let them chew on it too long. My dog ended up with a scabbed nose once. So now we limit time usage.

  • Both my dogs really like these things called "flatties" from PetSmart in the PuppiesRUs section. they are flat little animals made of a canvas like material with squeakers and the crinkly stuff that they put in baby toys. My dogs are hardcore destroyers and have destroyed many things...including the Tuffy stuffed animals that they also really like...but because of the flat-ness or the lack of stuffing they don't eat these. i don't know why they don't shred them but i love them and they are super cheap.

  • My 6mo lab puppy is a destroyer too.  He loves his Kong (our dog trainer recommended stuffing it with peanut butter or cream cheese and freezing it - last longer that way).  He is also a big fan of this...

Snoop toy - you fill it with treats or their normal food and it dispenses based on them rolling it around on the ground.
