Getting HBO without cable

Hey all, I came across this article talking about how to get HBO without signing up for a bunch of cable channels that you don't even watch. It's pretty informative. I plan on doing this when I get my own place. I miss HBO. :(

Anyway, here is the link to the article. http://hellogiggles.com/can-finally-get-hbo-without-cable-package

MSN.com also did an article about it though theirs is not as informative.

I thought you guys might like this if you're looking to cut cable costs but don't want to miss out on HBO. I, for one, need to catch up on True Blood and Game of Thrones! :p

Re: Getting HBO without cable

  • Nice! Another way to do it is get a cable password from someone with HBO (we get ours from H's mom) and steam it through your device of choice (we use Apple TV).
  • Are you talking about HBO GO? I know my parents have HBO but I don't think they have HBO GO. Granted, I don't know that much about it but don't you have to pay an additional fee to get HBO GO?

Yes, HBO Go. I don't think H's mom pays a fee; I'd be shocked if she did since she's allergic to technology. She has Fios. Maybe it comes with her package but not all?

ETA We did offer to help with the bill in exchange for the password, but she declined.

HBO Go is free for those that already have HBO, it's just an app like other stations have. We use a friends password to watch it on our iPad, along with ABC and NBC apps.
