Great Wolf Lodge

Has anyone been to the Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, VA or Poconos, PA?  Is it worth going for one night?  Most of the reviews say the hotel rooms are horrible, but the water park is really nice.

Re: Great Wolf Lodge

  • Do you have kids? Or another watermark option nearby?

  • Not the one in VA, but the one in Charlotte.  We always go for just 1 night, which is plenty.  For 1 night you can go to the water park both the day of check in and check out.  We always get one of the Wolf Den or Kid Kamp rooms (separate sleeping area for the kids) and they have always been really nice.

I was very skeptical going to one inPoconos....but was I wrong.  I was expecting it to be dirty and gross.  Our room was fabulous.  Super clean and with a fireplace   we loved it.

the water park was so clean too.  Service at snack bar was slow, really only complaint.  Cant wait to go back

  • We went to the Williamsburg on for one night last January.  It was a great winter getaway. We arrived on the day after MLK Day (Tuesday) and were quite surprised to find it busy. The server at dinner said it always still busy the day after a holiday with people extending their holiday stay. Wednesday was much better with people leaving. One night was plenty for us and our small children. I wrote a review on trip advisor and I think gave it 3/5 stars. It was nice but the room was dated. The water park was fun and everyone who worked their was very friendly and helpful. The water park was clean and the lifeguards are always paying attention so we felt very safe with our toddlers. The cost adds up, even with a Groupon or special. Breakfast and dinner buffets were good but pricey. There was not much option in the way of food bc there are the buffets and then a carry-out only pizza place and the burger place in the water park. Leave and go to the BBQ place right down the street - I can't remember its name but the pulled pork was excellent.

Go during the week and use a Groupon, if possible. You'll get more bang for your buck.
