Sofa similar to Ikea Ektorp??

Hi!

I was wondering if any one has heard of/seen a sofa similar to the Ikea Ektorp! I love the look of it (and the price) but sadly, the closest Ikea is 5+ hours away from us :(.  And the shipping is around $300.  I love the white cottage style sofas but know that to have one it HAS to be washable and bleach-able.  We don't even have kids yet but between us and the pets I feel like white would be a disaster waiting to happen :). So I want to be able to actually take the whole thing off and wash it not just spot clean it.

My question is - since Ikea is so far has anyone heard of a similar option that comes in a bright white?

Thanks-
Julia

Re: Sofa similar to Ikea Ektorp??

  • Honestly, I would just pay the shipping. Even if you find one that's similar, I bet it would be more than $300 more than the Ektorp, which sounds like it's exactly what you're looking for. Or make the trip, I bet you'd have a blast visiting Ikea! Maybe you have friends nearby or something else you could to to make it a weekend?

  • We have the Ektorp and love it. It is pretty kid friendly because you can buy extra covers. Our son hasn't completely destroyed it ... yet. I second the recommendation to just order it. You can't beat the price (even with $300 for shipping).

  • We now live about 10 hours from the nearest IKEA, but as we're furnishing our home plus a rental property we're always tempted by their prices. As it turns out, once a year (maybe more) they have a free shipping day! We've now stocked up on things twice that way and it's worked out beautifully. We think and plan in advance and get the items we've planned for as well as checking out what's on sale at the time.

This year's event has already passed but if you subscribe to their emails you should get a notification for when the next one rolls around.
