Movers

We sold our house, and are taking the plunge to move to a new home. Does anyone have a recommendation? We are in the Malvern area. Thank you.

Re: Movers

  • Congrats!  I've had two good experiences with Mambo Movers (one move from a third floor apartment to a row home in South Philly; the other when my old company moved from the 5th Floor of an Old City office building to the third floor of an old victorian in Huntingdon Valley- I was responsible for setting up the move)

  • When we moved, I looked researched several movers in/around our area: Mambo, Brothers (KOP), Keep it Moving (Phila), Moodys Movers (Bucks Co), Adams Movers (Norristown), Eric's Moving (Spring City/Phoenixville), Sloane Movers (Elkins Park).

Ideally, Eric's would have been our 1st choice as they were closest to us, but were booked on the date we wanted. Many of the movers would charge us the hourly moving rate to get their crew from Phila to our house in Phoenixville (i.e., Mambo would be paid $123/hr for their hour of driving out out to us) or there were extra fees or higher rates.

We ultimately ended up with Sloane on the recommendation of a friend and found their prices to be very competitive.  We were happy with our choice for several reasons: 1) the first 30 min of travel time is at no cost; 2) they have an estimator come out to your house to see how big the home is and how many items you  need moving so they can properly staff/estimate the day; 3) when the truck had a fuel leak the AM of our move, we were called immediately and the guys were only delayed by about 30 minute; 4) nothing was broken; 5) the two guys they sent made sure to consult with us if there was a larger item that may cause wall damage (i.e, our queen box spring was likely to scuff the walls as it was moved into our new house--they were super conscious of making sure that we knew that the wall would likely have small scratches. We advised them that we could easily deal with that and it would be no problem).
