Chicagoland sp (book 6)

Anyone want to chat? What did you like or not like? I read like seven of these in the last three weeks, but I'll only post sp up to book 6. Overall, I like the series. It has turned into a sort of a mystery-solving thing and that is okay. The snark is great.

I really liked Ethan and when he died, I thought this series might have been a game changer. It would have been nice to see Merit have a relationship with other guys, maybe even Jonah, and to go on with her life for a bit. And then when Ethan came back, in the next book, I lost all since of danger for both Merit and Ethan.

I wish mallocakes were a real thing, because they sound delicious. Also, I am surprised that everyone goes around saying and texting RG. Wouldn't you think they would have a better cover, like MHS or something?

Looks like there is a giveaway for series swag, if you are into that sort of thing.

Re: Chicagoland sp (book 6)

  • Initially I was not a fan of Ethan. I actually liked Morgan for Merit. Obviously things have changed. The only reason I've accepted Ethan is that he has changed. I actually was really suspicious of his return and I wasn't convinced that it would be that easy.

I feel bad for Jonah. He could have been good for Merit in a different way, but I guess they'll just be partners.

I'm not a fan of other changes in the city, but that's what keeps the series going.
  • I was pretty happy when Ethan died. I was hoping for a Jonah sequence. Ethan's reappearance made me lose interest in these, and I stopped reading after #7 (House Rules).

One more complaint. How is Ethan a strong Strat??? I feel like he can never make decisions.

And yes, mallocakes sound amazing. I got hungry every time I started to read one of these books. I love that Merit has a healthy appetite and food is not a guilty pleasure like with other heroines.

I have really enjoyed this series so far. For one it leaves me starving every time.
I also was so so about Ethan. I'd have to go back and read my reviews but Ia think I was excited to see the series and Merit move on after his death. But as always, the cat came back the very next day. As much as I hate deaths of main characters, I would have liked to see this series continue on.
