Since our birthdays and anniversary all fall into a 1 month span we had discussed celebrating all at once by doing something awesome! Well purchasing the house and buying everything that goes with it has limited us on extra spending!
H's company does their holiday outing in Cancun every year, this is our first year going as he just started 5 months ago, but a friend of ours (that got him the job) will be going on this trip for the 4th year. He says it gets better and better ever year! They plan all kinds of activities and parties and even flew in Snoop Dogg last year to perform?!?!?!
They pay for the all inclusive resort for 650 employees plus a guest... so we are looking at 1300 people at this shindig! The down side... they only pay $200 towards the employees flight ticket (I rather they just pay for both of our flights instead of getting snoop dogg......). As this is the week before Christmas tickets are so expensive (plus we are flying from New England)! They are all around $700+ (before fees) for multiple layover flights resulting in 18+ hours of travel times! Most are landing late on Saturday (or early Sunday) and with activities starting at 4pm on Sat (and only being there till Tuesday) I want to get in as early as possible on Sat!
It was starting to cross my mind that maybe we shouldn't go, it is just so much money!!! BUT we don't travel much, have never been to Mexico, will be going with soooo many friends of H's (and I have been meeting the GFs and wives) that it seems so hard to pass up. PLUS this time next year... maybe I'll be prego... I mean who KNOWS?! But this could be one of the few chances we get this opportunity!
Sooo after scouring the internet for weeks, today I found a non stop flight (4.5 hours) that will land before 11am on Sat, for $550 pp WITH ALL FEES TAXES AND INSURANCE!!!!!!!!!) Yippeeeeeeeee I booked it asap!
And now we are going soooo I guess this is our: "Happy Birthday to H, Happy Birthday to me and Happy Anniversary to us!"
