17 Things Women without kids are tired of hearing

Re: 17 Things Women without kids are tired of hearing

  • Oh yeah, I've heard most of those too. Someone shared this one with me the other day too. #19 I can't even believe. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/09/23-things-never-say-childfree-woman_n_3895114.html
  • wow!!!! thats a good list too!  Ive heard quite a bit of those as well.  And the article is right- I find myself skirting around ways to answer that question because if i say i dont want them, i get all sorts of looks and reasonings as to why, when and i will change my mind....its infuriating.

  • Woah.. I have heard many of those. But one that is missing is from a text I received last night from a girl who recently became pregnant with her second child.."well get on it!! It's the cool thing to do these days.. babies are amazing"

    AH!

  • I read the Huffington Post one.  My office mate at work is the same as me - loves kids but hates the idea of mothering one.

I'm just glad I no longer have to skate around with excuses for not wanting any because my family wouldn't accept "we don't want them" as a viable excuse.  Part of me wants to post this on my FB wall SO badly.  But I'm one of those suckers who doesn't want to offend my friends who do have kids, or worse yet the ones who are dying to have them and can't.

I am also very careful of posting articles about the childfree life on Facebook. So many of my friends have children and a few of the mothers have become very defensive when I have posted about the joys of childfree life. Their reactions make me think that they are quite envious of all the freedom my husband and I have.

I rarely tell anyone in my daily life that we choose not to have kids. I am not interested in the snide remarks or being questioned about my choice.
  • The jealousy over the free time kills me too. Yes I "have" more free time than you...but it's not always that much more. I go to your kids parties, I celebrate holidays which require gift shopping and prep. My house has to get clean, my laundry has to get done just like you, maybe just less.

I've learned to just not post on Facebook anymore either. I didn'[t change my last name so I'm a real puzzle to people.
