Happy Friday! What are you reading?

Trying to get through The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd. Sadly, I'm finding it pretty boring. #85 for the year.

  • I am halfway through City of Heavenly Fire and so far I am enjoying it.  It took me a bit to get into it but I think it was because it had been so long since I read the last one.  I also just started Midnight Kiss and The Pillars of the Earth.  No opinions on them yet as I just started.

They are all for SuBC and are #49 - 51 for the year.

Ugh, I'm so jealous.  This is a book that I wish I could experience again for the first time.

  • I just finished Heaven & Earth by NR this morning and started Face the Fire.  I listened to Dance Upon the Air last week for my first week at the new job when I felt that I needed the extra courage.

I plan to sit down with my completed m/s tonight and take notes on what I want to keep/toss and get back to work on that.

  • According to Goodreads I am supposed to be reading my Calvin Coolidge bio for the presidential challenge, however, I haven't gotten past page 1.

Meanwhile, I am reading a couple of books that I don't want to admit to reading at this point.

@SnShne322 Did you read Fall of Giants?  I loved the first two books in that series but Pillars of Earth just doesn't seem interest me (never started it, just read the summary.)

  • I'm reading The Wise Man's Fear. I finally got this back from the library and I'm excited to finish it! It will be # 34 for the year.

I'm also listening to Dragonfly in Amber. I thought I would pick up a few things on the reread but it's not any less confusing for me the second time through.

@Packfan20 I keep meaning to.  I started it on audio, but got sidetracked.  I loved The Pillars of the Earth and World Without End.  They're just so epic and horrible and awesome and everything else in between. I think if you can get past the first 150 pages of PotE, you would love it.  I think the summaries are misleading. It's about so much more than what the blurbs can tell you.  My most hated literary character is in PotE.

  • I just finished Morning Glory by Sarah Jio. It was number 29 out of 40 for the year. I'm 5 books ahead. I have a lot of studying/prepping for a licensure exam coming up after vacation this weekend but I'm hoping if all goes well and I pass that I'll be able to increase my goal.

I'm also re-reading HP and the SS. I'm slowly re-reading this series on my Kindle in between other books. I've never tried reading 2 books at once before so I'm experimenting with that.

I'm not sure what to read next. We leave for the beach Sunday though so I need to get a stack of books ready.

  • I just finished 13 Reasons Why last night. I didn't love it. It was good, but it wasn't OMG good. I started it before Robin Williams, and then that happened, and I think I just wasn't in the mindset for more suicide.

I read the first chapter of
Isla last night, I need a lighter book, so I think this one will be great!

  • Hollow City by Ransom Riggs

Also just started Gargantua and Pantagruel by Francois Rabelais.  (My co-star brought me the book when we were in The Music Man together.  If you've seen the show, it's one of the "scandalous" authors the librarian recommends to the ladies in town.  I like a good scandalous book.  :)  )

  • I'm listening to Sycamore Row by John Grisham and reading The Fiery Cross.  Loving both!

  • Me Before You. Loving it. #31
  • 11/22/63- I'm about halfway through and love it. I used to complain about long books losing their way and getting off track, but that has not been the case at all with my last two long reads.

The Rosie Project- cute and entertaining

A Song for Sophia by Moriah Densley- this is a historical romance written by someone I know and it is smart and funny and I'm really enjoying the change of pace from everything else I've been reading lately.

  • Just started Attachments. No. 22 for the year.
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

  • I'm nearly done with One Plus One (Moyes). It's cute and funny and family-centric. I like it at least as much as Me Before You.

Still reading The Goldfinch. Took a break to listen to some random management books for work.

Ruin and Rising had to go back to the library before I was done. Meh. I'm excited to start Isla later this weekend.

I'm somewhere in the 40s for the year. Hoping to make it to 60.
