We still have not gotten EJ's packet in the mail... stuff like a school supply list, her bus tag, name tag, letter from her teacher. School starts Monday. I tried to be patient, but I really thought it would have come last week while we were away. Now I have to call the school because I have convinced myself hers somehow got lost in the mail. I am so far from being on the ball with stuff lately and I really just want to get this school stuff dealt with already! grumble grumble grumble.
Re: back to school vent
Grrrr....school starts Tuesday for us, so one week from today and we haven't received anything.

I would definitely call! I was getting nervous about Mason's bus assignment, but we ended up getting it on Saturday (school starts next Wednesday).
I still don't know what kind of supplies he'll need. There's a general list of things they need on the district's website, but it is nothing specific to school supplies (things like a backpack, change of clothes, etc.). I'm thinking maybe the teacher will send us a list home on the first day? I have no idea, but it is making me impatient!
But we start a week later do I guess we have time. But we are on vacation all next week. I want it this week in case I have to call!
You'd think that they would receive less phone calls if places would send this stuff out earlier. Or maybe even a way to review online?!?!
Well I am glad my district isn't the only one slacking... for K all EJ needed was a pencil box. it was so not fun to do school shopping when I only had to buy an $.80 pencil box. Though my neighbors have gotten some of their letters already. and we did get our bus cards last week (and I had to have EJ's adjusted since she will be in full day now and can ride the bus home). I hate making phone calls so two in one week is kinda a big deal.
But, Todd is supposed to have his Kindergarten assessment next week. It could be M, T or W. DH or I need to arrange PTO for it and we haven't heard from the teacher yet. I was hoping to take him, but I have a critical work meeting next Wednesday. :-/
There is also a huge pile of papers and artwork in our foyer that I wanted to process before school starts Monday. Papers from last year plus artwork from summer camp for two kids. Looking at it overwhelms me.
Ugh! Summer made me forget how annoying school is!
when in doubt, blame the post office!!!

So down here in Texas, the schools have this thing called a "school packet" and it's sold, bundled together, in all of the grocery stores. So, based on which school you're going to, and which grade, you just go in and buy the packet. It would make it so much easier for everyone if they did it that way every where!
My boys go to parochial school and, while I balk at the annual activity fee of $125 that we pay in February, it also means that I don't have to worry about providing anything for the first day. School started on Wednesday and we only found out the teacher assignment on Monday night at back-to-school night, where you also meet the teacher and see the homeroom.
It's a stressful time of year - it would be nice if things could be made easier for everyone!
We got dd's teacher info. So far we don't know anyone in her class. Ugh! I hope she knows a few kids! Can I just say that it made me feel SO old that her teacher's letter said he graduated in 2011!!!
