Help needed! Patio door window treatment advice
Hi ladies! I need help! I have large windows in my living room that are adjacent to a patio door that is about a foot lower than the windows. After much deliberation, I hung curtains yesterday around the patio door at the same height as the windows. Does this look totally weird? If so, what would you recommend instead? Lowering the curtains to the patio door height? Thanks in advance for your help!

I would probably put curtains on the windows, and something completely different on the doors that fits them. You don't have to make your door covering the same as your window covering. If you give the door a different type of covering, then having them at different heights will seem less odd - not like you're trying to disguise your door as a window (unsuccessfully).
I think large roman shades over the doors would look nice. If you really do want curtains on your door, I don't think you need to make them the same height as your window curtains.
You might just want to test out the different heights, and see which one you like better.
I like the rod hung high - you were correct to hang it high visually. But what you need to do is to hang a matching rod at the same height over the windows. Then, get the same drapery panels for those windows. What you are doing is unifying the windows and the door and helping them blend as a unit.
If it were me, I would probably buy 3 more drapery panels and hang one on the far left, one in the middle of the windows and one on the far right of the windows. Then you'll have 5 total panels and that's fine.
Due to the rooms being so close without a dividing wall, you shouldn't use a different drapery panel in the family room area that you did in the kitchen. That would look imbalanced.
