2nd & Charles

Has anyone taken stuff in to trade there??  I have four bags of books in my car that I plan to drop off to 2nd & Charles after work today. I honestly don't care if they give me $0.10 per book, because I'll never read them again, but I'd like to know what to expect if people have taken stuff before.

Re: 2nd & Charles

  • yes! I took several boxes of books in there and ended up walking away with like $17 and a box of book they didn't want for one reason or another.

I felt overall it was a fail. but I was almost $20 richer

  • Did you call ahead first?  I have two canvas shopping bags, one Ulta bag, and one grocery bag filled with books. They're basically all fiction.  None of them are falling apart or anything, but I expect that they won't take some of them for whatever arbitrary reason they find.  But if I can basically trade my old books that I'll never read again for the two books that I want to get, I'll be fine with that.

I am trying to reread the Outlander series, and I freaking lost the 2nd and 3rd books.  I have NO IDEA where they are.
  • I did not call first
  • H took a ton of books there once and walked out with like $25. For all of the effort he went through to take all of the boxes up there and bring them in, $25 was not worth it.

  • @court115 thats exactly how I felt. I should have just taken them to goodwill
  • Well I just got back.  I didn't bring all of my books in, just 2 out of the 4 bags.  I for $22 store credit (or $11 cash, but since I had fully intended on buying things... I knew I was getting store credit.)  I think they didn't take 5 or 6 of the books i had brought in, so I left those in their free bins outside.

They DID have Dragonfly in Amber.  And the funny thing is, this lady comes up behind me at the buyback counter with a new copy of Outlander and was looking for the other books.  I almost bolted over to the fiction section so that I could get them before her.  I almost feel like I should have looked for the books before going to buyback.  When I got over there, Dragonfly in Amber was sitting there.  Their computer said that they had a copy of Voyager, but we couldn't find it.  Maybe that lady got it.  Maybe someone else did.  But I put it on a list, so that if they get a copy of it in... they'll call me so I can come buy it.
  • I'm feeling like a oddball right now.  I don't typically buy books unless I know I'm going to reread them.  I can't imagine getting rid of any of my books!
