Going back to school?

I guess I should start this out by saying that I am not your typical modern woman. From the outside yes, but my friends joke that I was meant to be a 50s housewife. I genuinely enjoy cooking and cleaning and taking care of people.
My fiancé and I are marrying next year and soon after plan to start a family ( after building up a nest egg)

I want to get some sort of degree before children come along because I realize how hard it is to do after. My problem is the only thing I've ever wanted to be is a mom and a wife.

I currently work as a Cna making around 11 an hour. The hours are not cohesive to raising a child and I need a little help figuring out what to do.

I am considering a technical degree. I am most concerned about hours, hoping for a traditional 9-5, retirement and insurance benefits, and income potential.

Does anyone have any suggestions of programs and careers I should look into?
I could really use some guidance.

Accounting and finance.  I'm in hospitality (hotels) and that's crazy hours.  But since I moved to the accounting department, I work 7-5 every day.

accounting is a good one as the pp said.  You can always do bookkeeping part time or full time for small companies.  I am an accountant for a private corporation and i work 9-5 M-F.   Some companies who have stricter deadlines (like my previous job) had me working late nights during the closing time period and weekends on quarter end and year end time frames.

I am in accounting and it is great to work 9-5 everyday. My only issue with the field is that there is so much competition as so many people are qualified to work various office jobs.

How about nursing school. There are many RN roles that take the M-F path, salary is good, benefits are good and if you decide you want to work part time either PRN or even telehealth is an option.

I agree with this, and I'm not a mom, but I do work in a hospital and think that the day nursing shift of 3 days a week from 7 am to 7 pm, sounds pretty good for raising a family. Maybe you could find a hospital or clinic with an in-house day care? Ours has one, it's a bit pricey but convenient and understanding of nursing staff and docs who work 12 hour shifts.

If you have time to pursue a Bachelor's degree, a business degree is a nice generic degree to have in your back pocket.  It will allow you time to think about what you might want to do within a company and focus your degree as you find an area you like.  Or, if you get it and stay at home for several years, you will still have something more competitive when you do enter the job market.
