  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off?  Depends on the book, but I mostly take them off.

    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok?  I love to keep my book in pristine condition.

    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy? Keep all the books.  What do you do with the ones you get rid of?

    4) Do you loan your books out to people?  Only to certain approved people.

  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off?
I typically take the dust jacket off so I do not ruin it.
    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok?
I am a person who tabs the corner of a page because I can never find a bookmark. Loving them is okay to me.
    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy? What do you do with the ones you get rid of?
No, I only keep the ones that I could re-read over and over. If it was a good book, but I don't want to re-read it I donate them to my library.
    4) Do you loan your books out to people?
I used to, until a few certain people never returned them, and now I do not at all. Sorry out of luck that is what a library is for.
  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off?  I take them off. It's less about preserving them and more because they're effing annoying.

    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok? A little love is okay, but I'm careful for the most part.

    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy? What do you do with the ones you get rid of? I keep 99% of the books I buy.

    4) Do you loan your books out to people? Yes, but only to certain people, and NEVER a signed copy.

  • 1) I almost always take dust jackets off. It helps with my answer to #2.

    2)  I keep them in pristine condition, I love pretty books.

    3) I keep the majority of them, which is an issue since we have a very small house. But it's a sickness, so oh well. When I do purge, I usually donate to our local library.

    4) There are maybe 5 people that I would lend my books to.

  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off?  Off.

    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok?  Pristine condition.

    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy? What do you do with the ones you get rid of?  I only get rid of books I hated.

    4) Do you loan your books out to people?  Loan out books to people?  Is that actually done?

  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off?  Keep it on.

    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok?  I love them over time.

    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy?   Keep    What do you do with the ones you get rid of?  irrelevant

    4) Do you loan your books out to people?  Not anymore.  I made the mistake once and didn't get it back in the same condition.

  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off?  On. It's so much prettier!

    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok?  I'm not at all a stickler about this for the majority of my books - I'm all about the loving.  However, I do have a special set of hardcovers that are either signed or just beautiful that I keep pristine.

    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy?  I think I've purposely gotten rid of like 1% of the books of I've ever bought in my lifetime, though sometimes they get lost or never returned.  I can't bring myself to do it, even with books I hated.

    4) Do you loan your books out to people?  I love loaning books! It's one of the pleasures I take in having a big personal library.  I certainly don't loan out the few pretty books in my "special set" (see #2), but all others are fair game.  And if I don't get them back, or get them back in worse condition, it really doesn't bother me - if it's one I loved I don't mind replacing it, and if it's not then I won't miss it.

  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off? I usually keep it on.

    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok? A little love is ok by me, depending on the book.

    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy? What do you do with the ones you get rid of? Nope, I rarely keep books. I will lend them to people I know I won't get them back to, give them to my mom or donate them to the Little Free Library in our neighborhood.

    4) Do you loan your books out to people? Sure if it is something I never intend to read again. I don't ever lend my favorites.

  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off?
I rarely read hard covers, but I keep the jacket on when I do. My boys treat dust jackets like wrapping paper on their books though. That $hit has got to come off to get to the important stuff inside.
    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok?
I don't mind a little wear and tear.
    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy? What do you do with the ones you get rid of?
These days I only buy copies of books I loved so much in Kindle format that I wanted to have a physical copy on my shelf or books that both Paul and I want to read. If I get rid of books, I donate them to the library to sell for fundraising, or to my writers group to give away as trivia prizes.
    4) Do you loan your books out to people?
Pretty much only to my friend Ashley. We tend to keep each other's books for a long time too.

    4) Do you loan your books out to people? Not usually. I have in the past and it ended badly.

  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off?  Dust jacket off, always.

    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok? I really like them in pristine condition. I hate cracked spines on paperbacks.

    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy? What do you do with the ones you get rid of? I keep them.  I'm a big library user so if I buy them, they're usually pre orders of my favorite authors.

    4) Do you loan your books out to people? To select people.  And I do have a few books that I have multiple copies of so I can lend one and have one.

  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off? Keep it on and use the flaps as bookmarks

    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok? I love them well - I'm not opposed to dog-earing or even writing in them, as long as they aren't signed copies or valuable.

    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy? What do you do with the ones you get rid of? I'd say I keep maybe 60%.  The rest I trade for store credit at the used book store.  I've wound up with enough credit that I haven't paid actual money for a book in ages.

    4) Do you loan your books out to people? Yep, with the exception of my "special" copies

  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off?

Take it off otherwise it will get on my nerves. Plus I don't want to ruin it.

    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok?

A little loving is okay but I try to take care of them.

    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy? What do you do with the ones you get rid of?

I do. Even if I didn't like the book, someone I know may want to borrow it.

    4) Do you loan your books out to people?

I do but only to a few people. My friend has been on thin ice lately though because she returned my pristine looking hardcover copy of TFiOS looking like it had been dropped in a pool and then run over by a truck. :((

  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off? I usually keep it on.

    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok? I try to keep them in as good condition as possible.

    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy? What do you do with the ones you get rid of? I keep them.  The only books I've ever gotten rid of were my Babysitters Club books and I still regret it to this day.

    4) Do you loan your books out to people? No.  I've only lent out maybe one or two before and never got them back (which is why I don't lend them out anymore.)

  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off?
I usually keep them on. It seems like I always lose the ones I take off.

    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok?
I try to keep my books in really nice condition, but sometimes there's a little loving. Nothing like spills or ripped pages, though.

    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy? What do you do with the ones you get rid of?
I used to keep every book I bought, but now I try to be more selective. We just don't have the room to keep every book I buy. Plus, I get a lot of books on my Nook now.

    4) Do you loan your books out to people?
    Only a select few people.

  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off? take it off

    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok? I like pristine, but that's not realistic because I tend to read books over and over.  Creases in the spine is bound to happen.

    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy? What do you do with the ones you get rid of? I keep most of them, but I do donate them to the library on occasion if there are books that I'm just not interested in keeping anymore.

    4) Do you loan your books out to people? I don't like to, but I do occasionally.  And I wait impatiently for their return.

  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off?  Keep it on.  I use the flaps as bookmarks.

    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok?  Depends.  I'm rougher on paperbacks but keep hardcovers in good condition.  I dog-ear pages (gasp!)

    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy? What do you do with the ones you get rid of?  I recently made a huge purge.  I sold some on ebay, some on Amazon, donated some to Goodwill, and have a box in my car to mail to a nestie teacher for her classroom.

    4) Do you loan your books out to people?  I have the worst luck with loaning books.

  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off?
    Jacket off.
    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok?  A little loving is okay.

    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy? What do you do with the ones you get rid of?
No.  I try to only buy books I plan to keep but sometimes I get excited at a library book sale.  I used to sell books to HPB but we don't have one anymore so I usually just donate to the library.
    4) Do you loan your books out to people?  Yes even though sometimes I regret it.  My copy of Anna Karenina is MIA and I loaned out Outlander and will not rest easy until it is returned (it's been a month so I'm panicking a little).

    1) I take the jacket off
    2) I try and keep them pristine however they usually look a little loved after a few times through
    3) most I keep the ones I've gotten rid of were either a buyback store or were lost in a flood
4)I will loan them to a select few that I know will return in the same condition
  • 1) When you read a hardcover, do keep the dust jacket on, or take it off? Usually.  I like to keep them neat.

    2) Do you keep your books in pristine condition, or is a little loving on them ok? Definitely neat for novels.  Textbooks are a different matter though.  I mark those all up with notes and highlights.

    3) Do you keep all the physical books you buy? What do you do with the ones you get rid of? I tend to only buy books I want to keep.  Some books I either got as a gift or bought used that I don't end up wanting to keep usually get donated to the Friends of the Library sales.

    4) Do you loan your books out to people? No.  I hate to say it, but any time I've ever loaned out a book they come back destroyed.  Since I only buy books I want to hold on to, I don't want them jacked up.
