Exercise post

we haven't done one of these in awhile.  How's everyone doing?  Any races or goals coming up?

Confession: I haven't done a single thing since the last week of July.  Yep, over a month ago.  :(  My fitness class at work ended, then we went to the beach (where I of course had all intentions of working out a few days....number of days I actually worked out = zero), came home from beach, Brian had his surgery, I've been sick, blah blah blah.  I know, there's always something right?  I realized last week that I needed to get back into the groove now or it would be that much harder, so I bit the bullet and signed up for that fitness class again at work. It's going to be harder to make it a priority now that the students are back I really need to carve out the time, but I'm hopeful that paying for it will give me the motivation I need.

Re: Exercise post

  • I am right there with you. And I have baby weight to still get off. I am so mad at myself that I still do but does it motivate me to exercise or stop feeding my face? No. DH and I tried to do the paleo thing the other week. I hated it. He likes it and is still doing. I got these 310 nutrition shakes online as I was looking for soemthing like shakeology to take for lunch but wanted cheaper. They are not that great and I still end up hitting the work vending machines. I do start a zumba class tomorrow night. So maybe that will get me motivated to stick with it. Rambling here.

Where are you 21 day fix ladies... Are you still liking it? I am tempted to order that. But DH might kill me after I signed up for WW the other month and stopped. Then these 310 nutrition shakes. No wonder the diet and fitness industries are doing so well. :)

  • Last night I volunteered for Market Day at Mason's school and carried boxes of food around.  Does that count?

So yeah, I haven't been doing much of anything.  I did a 5k a few weeks ago, but walked the whole thing.  Actually I started out joggging, made it about 1/4 of a mile, then walked.

I really need to get back at it!

  • I've been regularly doing hot yoga and loving it. All was great til my teacher posted last night on FB that she's closing the studio. I'm SO bummed and trying to figure out what I want to do. Her studio was so reasonable and within walking distance. I'm going to try and do just regular vinyasa yoga at home (don't see myself heating my house to 100 degrees, lol) for awhile til I find a new yoga studio.

I also keep telling myself I'm going to get back to working out on my lunch hour. Talking is as far as I get:/
  • aww, Gwen what a bummer! I know you were really enjoying that :(

  • I haven't been doing as much as I would like. I did get some runs in on vacations and we biked a couple days so I was proud of myself!

I've been trying to do Zumba 2 nights during the week but it's been hard to get to my weekend class. So many things going on and dh working overtime is making it hard!

I did start insanity last week. I'm not doing it everyday! But figured I would give it a try on days I can't go to Zumba or run.

My allergies have been killing me so it's hard to get motivated! I'm exhausted!

  • Days when I surpass 7,000 steps are exciting...so not well. :-/

DH and I both decided that we are interested in trying yoga. He jumped in and has been trying a number of places around town. I would really like to do some on my own before I go to a studio. We're debating whether to try to go at different times, or pick a class each week to do together & hire a sitter. Not sure yet.

If anyone can suggest good online or on demand yoga resources, please let me know.

I've done the On Demand yoga several times and it can be a good workout. I've mainly stuck with John Vittorino's sessions. My only complaint with his is he can move a little quickly through poses.

I'm considering getting an app that was highly recommended on line called Yoga Studio. You can do sessions already (and choose from different types - restorative, vinyasa, etc) on there or you can build your own.

Good luck - I really enjoy it!

And thanks Emmy - I'm still kind of shocked that she's closing it. There was NO warning of any kind :(
  • My UP band was all "you are killing it, girl!" the Monday after vacation, It now tells me that I am a good sleeper. Hmmmm. I have LESS than a month until the Mario 6.6k and I really wanted to have trained for it, but I will go and try to enjoy myself none the less. I have to run across TWO bridges and through the Armstrong tunnel. This ought to be interesting!
  • Aw, Gwen, that stinks!  Is Bridgeville too far for you?  My friend teaches at Updog Yoga in Bridgeville.
  • I am in a lull because I am about to go back to work FT. I did 21 day fix and loved it, and was doing t25 but now that I am going back to work I will join a gym near work. In fact, if anyone would like to buy a barely used t25 package for a deeeeep discount, let me know!
  • DH and I toured the Baierl YMCA this past weekend and have decided to join so that we can start exercising again.  We used to belong to the Y in Atlanta.  I wish we had started earlier, especially since we learned it's only 89/month since we get a discount for living in Franklin Park.  I may still keep my membership in the Grant Building since it's only 25/month and if I go there early I can beat the traffic.
  • My confession is that I bought the 21 day fix and it is still in the wrapper from July!

I really need to get my arse in gear. But for now, I am off to buy some spanx so i can offer the apperance of being slim for a wedding next week!

  • I've been doing PiYo combined with a run or two a week for the past month and have been loving it.  I've stuck pretty consistently to the six days a week and one rest day and am extremely proud of myself.  The workouts are only 20-35 minutes so I can do them in the morning before I wake the kids up or in the evening after I put the kids to bed without messing with my sleep too much.

  • I have been training for the Hershey 1/2 on 10/19. I am doing a 12 week training program and I'm on week 7. I've been consistently running 4 days a week since I started and I usually run on T-TH-F and then do a long run on Sunday.
