iPhone users-switching phones

I'm upgrading my 4s to the 6. What do I need to know about switching over? I've never done it 4s is my first iphone/smartphone) My pics are off and saved to my computer. I synchro with iTunes.
Do I need to do anything else?

1. My apps are all under my Apple ID right? So I just redownload them on the new phone?

2. I don't have many songs but a few. They are all through iTunes so I don't need to do anything more? Just synch the new phone on my computer?

3. How do I get all my contacts easily onto new phone?

4. Wiping the old phone when I'm ready how do I do that?

Since you are switching between Apple products, I don't think you need to worry over any of these things all the info is there, just need to get it on the new phone. 1. Yes, you go to the app store and to updates and then to purchased. 2. Same sort of thing, when you go to the music on the new phone, you can re-download the songs. 3. I am not sure about contacts. 4.As far as the reset, under settings, general, reset - that will restore it to factory settings. ETA: I would make sure you do a back up immediately before you start putting things on the new phone, just in case.
  • If you have all of your contacts uploaded/synced into iCloud then all you'll have to do it put in your iCloud info and it will download them all for you.

How do I know if I do! I honestly don't use iCloud that much and have found it doesn't seem to do much for me! Do I need to do something special or should it just do it?

  • Under settings -> iCloud, you can check that it is connected. And then you can double check by visiting icloud.com and logging in (usually the same as your apple ID username/password) and check that they are all there. I think you have to be connected to wifi for it to work.
  • I just gave my phone to the verizon guy and told them to make it happen. :) all of my stuff was on my new phone when they handed it back.

Thanks I really never understood iCloud, but I guess I didn't really have it set up. I'm backing up right now and contacts are showing up on iCloud.com so I think it's working!
