Has anyone read (or planning to read) The Infinite Sea? (ns)

This is the next book in the Fifth Wave series (by Rick Yancey). It's an alien apocalypse end of the world YA series.

I loved The Fifth Wave SO SO much, and I could not wait for this one to come out. I read it as soon as it was released, and I ... um ... sort of .... well, have you ever not been able to pin down your thoughts on a book? I almost need to read it again - not because I loved it so much that I devoured it (a la Graceling or Attachments), but just because I can't articulate my thoughts or even my feelings and gut reaction to this one.

It's either a 3 star or 4.5 star book for me. LOL.

  • I'm about 75 pages into it. It took me about 50 pages to sort out who was who again. All the names and "nomes de guerre" had me SO confused. Even after reading the recaptains recap of the 5th wave, I couldn't keep the characters straight. I think I've finally got it down. Other than that, it's been ok. I'm not in love with it yet.

  • Let me know once you finish; I'd love to talk more about it. There were things that I absolutely loved about it. But other things that bugged me, in terms of writing style; not where the story went, at all. I love where the story went. :)
  • Also... does one whale on something, or wail on it? Because the book used "whale", and I thought it was "wail".

Sort of random, but it's been bugging me!

  • Yes! I just finished up the 5th wave and loved it, I stayed up almost all night listening to this book.  I'm trying to finish up my current audio book, but I'm very tempted to abandon it for this.

  • I plan on reading it but I think I need to re-read The Fifth Wave first.  It's been too long and I don't remember much about it!
