Since it seems like some of you guys are interested, I went ahead and set up a Holiday Exchange for us on Elfster. I am thinking that maybe we could plan to have our gifts to arrive around mid-December. I thought we should go ahead and start since I know that the Holiday's can get pretty busy. I have our deadline set for Oct. 18 and the drawing set for Oct. 19. If you are interested, please respond to this post with your email address and I will send you an invite to join the Exchange!!

*Update* I changed the sign-up date for November 1st for those of us who aren't ready to start thinking about the Holiday's yet. :)

Re: Holiday Exchange!! *Updated*

  • Hmmm...this is way too far out for me to make any decisions about gifting.  I think I'm out.

  • I'm with @mrsjene - I can't start to wrap my brain around holiday giving in early October

With a mom like mine, I'm always in a panic that I haven't finished holiday shopping in October. Gift hoarding for the following year always started in January in our house. I know this is partly because we didn't have a lot of extra money growing up, so she jumped on all of the bargains and spread the cost of presents out over the months to give us a special day at Christmas.

I have melloed on that habit quite a bit though and like to wait until November/December to get started.

  • Usually I can't really think about gifts for family and stuff until at least November, though I start crafty type gifts in September or I'll never get them done!
But for an exchange with internet people, I don't know, I think it's different.  You don't have to necessarily even have to think too much about it until December.
Just a suggestion, but maybe make the sign up by date be early November?

  • I would definitely be open to making it later!! The reason I went with the 18th was because Elfster only allowed me to go out to the 18th when I set up the Exchange. I figured what the heck, since I am a planner and it is only a couple weeks earlier than I would have set it. I just went back in and tried to edit the date and low and behold....it let me change it to a later date! So what date would be good? November 1? Later? Earlier? What works for you guys? Please forgive me, as I learn how all this Elfster stuff works :)
