Best Mortgage Lender

We found a house we love, now its time to shop mortgage lenders. In the best we've gone with Wells Fargo and it has been terrible, so recommend away. We are buying up near Cranberry Township. TIA!!

Re: Best Mortgage Lender

  • I don't have personal experience, but a few people I know have gone with Dollar Bank which is local. My mortgage is through Coldwell Banker and I don't know that I would recommend them. Congrats on finding a house!
  • Ours is through PNC. It was kinda  default since that is where we bank. It was relatively painless (we had some weird things to deal with). We were really happy with them.

  • Our current mortgage is with Huntington.  We didn't have as many options as ours was a construction loan, but I've had no complaints so far.

Our previous mortgage on our old house was with Dollar Bank and I didn't have any issues with theme either.

  • We did our mortgage initially through Howard Hanna (we purchased through them as well and the seller was through them - so it was an easy process). Immediately our mortgage was sold to CitiBank and they were fine to deal with. Most recently we refinanced through PNC who we bank with and again, it's been fairly easy. Good luck!
  • We used US Bank.  It was an easy process, and they had a good rate at the time.  But since we have had a few issues with our escrow account balance being off.  I can't totally blame them 100%.  Our mortgage is on two properties, the house and an empty lot behind it. So it complicates taxes as we get two bills and not just one. So it was under estimated and now we are making up for it and it is a PITA.
  • Trying again since I don't think the first post work.  We used Jackie Brinker at Citizens Bank.  Great service and great rate.

  • NOT PNC. NOT PNC. NOT PNC.

our experience was so awful that when i spoke to someone at PNC they apologized a billion times and sent us a $50 visa gift card. we were actually wanting the loan to be sold once we closed. then PNC told us that they have a policy of keeping their loans and not selling. one of the PNC reps i spoke with admitted that they are a great bank but that mortgage lending is not their strong suit.
Thanks to our wonderful RE our family is complete!

  • We have used Dollar with both our old house & current.  I also do my banking with them so I like that everything is together.   They also don't sell their loans so you know once its with them it will always be with them.
