We had our anat scan at 20 weeks and still had to go back since DS wouldn't cooperate. I believe in the States you can find out the sex as early as your first tri screening bloodwork since there is enough fetal dna circulating.

I had my anatomy scan around 18 weeks bc my 1st or 2nd  tri screening came back with one of my levels being low so they rushed to do it and then i had to go back around 20 weeks bc they couldnt get the correct measurements of the heart bc she hadnt developed to where they wanted her to. Its better to wait so they can get all the measurements they need and you dont have to go back.

You should be having a 1st tri screening at some point if you want to, mine was around 13 weeks this is where they pricked my finger and took blood for a genetic screening and then i had a u/s too.

I wasn't thinking about all the other measurements they are taking at the anatomy scan, so now it makes more sense to me.  I did find an ultrasound clinic that can do gender screening starting at 15 weeks, but it's $100 and I'm not sure I want to risk spending that and not being able to get a clear picture.  I am scheduled next Friday for the 1st tri screening.  I'll be 12w4d and they like to do it between 12-13 weeks.

@mrshall1027 - Ditto the other two... I got my anatomy scan at 20 weeks just to make sure everything had time to develop.
