Re: Happy Friday!

  • I'm reading Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer (good so far) and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Other Stories.

I am carving a pumpkin this year, but I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet.

  • I missed the second part of the question. I'll be carving a pumpkin this year, but I really only do it so that I can roast the seeds.

  • Oh, I missed the pumpkin question, too.

We won't be carving one.  No one comes to our house to trick or treat, and no one ever sees our pumpkins. I love Halloween, and no one around me does. Very lonely and sad.

I was in Sleepy Hollow a couple of weeks ago but we didn't get to go in the Old Dutch Church.  I stood right by the creek that the Headless Horseman couldn't cross.

  • I am reading Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater, Code Name Verity and Laura Ingalls Wilder: A Writer's Life.  I normally don't read more than two books at once but my nook battery died and I needed something to read.

  • I am reading The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown and Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult. Also, I'm driving out of town for a 10K in the morning so I borrowed Gray Mountain by John Grisham to listen to on the drive. These books will be #'s 40-42 for the year, and I am hoping to fit at least one of them into FBC.

I am sure we will be carving a pumpkin this year. I have a 4 year old, and we have always had fun helping him carve/empty out a pumpkin each year. I suck at making a face on it, but he is too young to judge :)

  • I am currently reading the Silkworm for fun. I hope to join in on the next challenge.

We will be carving pumpkins this year. We haven't carved them for the last 2-3 years because my kids didn't like the idea of cutting up their pumpkins, so I am kind of looking forward to it this year.

  • I'm reading Preserving Memory: The Struggle to Create America's Holocaust Museum by Edward T. Linenthal.  It's for class.  I'm covering representations of pain in public history that session.  I also have three more chapters in the Defining Memory book by Amy K Levin, also for class (discussion on controversy in museums).  I'm listening to A Crown of Swords (Wheel of Time #7) on audiobook in the car, and I just finished a reread of Outlander. I was reading that to take a mental break from all the class reading I've been doing, so now I need another reread or light book to give my brain a break.

I always carve a pumpkin.  I need to figure out what I'm going to carve it as this year, though.
