Anyone got a 'before-baby' List?

Anyone else out there want children eventually but want to enjoy life first?
We looked at our friends with children (and of course they have things that we don't) but couldn't help see things they are missing out on. We do(i think) want children eventually but i don't want to look back and regret not enjoying 'just being married'.

We therefore developed a nappy list (we are from the UK), similar to a bucket list, but a list for pre-baby. A list of some fun, some sensible, some costly, some cheap things that we wanted to do before having children. (I know life doesn't end when you have children, but it definitely changes!)

Do you have a list? If so what's on it?

Re: Anyone got a 'before-baby' List?

  • We haven't got a list like that, but that sounds like a really good idea! I may have to talk to DH about that soon!
My personal list would probably be:
    1. Travel to Europe (can I visit you?? ;) )
    2. Travel to NYC
    3. Go on a luxurious Caribbean vacation
    4. Figure out the future of my job at my current company
    5. If the above is not good- find a new job
    6. Get involved in some type of sport/physical activity
    7. Explore my hobbies
    8. Buy a house

Basically, my biggest thing would be to travel as much as possible.

We have/are doing this. It's mostly travel and financial.

  • Nothing written out, but besides financial goals we want to travel to southeast asia and own a dog.
  • I had the idea to do this but then I realized that almost everything I want to do costs money, and since buying a home is our largest priority, I guess we're just going for that!
  • Yes we want to: Go on an Alaskan Cruise Go back to Maui Buy a better house Pay off majority of debt (we will always have some kind of debt so we are okay with this) Have more fun!!
