Book on explaining God to Children

Hi All,
My seven year old daughter is asking more about God and God's origin . I would like to read a book with simple language that would resonate with her. We are not so much religious as spiritual so avoiding heaven and hell type language is preferable. Also for some reason she is convinced God is female and I don't correct her as I want her to have her own sense of God - however I would prefer no he/she references if possible.
Any rec's is appreciated,

Thanks!

Re: Book on explaining God to Children

  • Maybe try Because Nothing Looks Like God by Lawrence Kushner or What is God by Etan Boritzer? I am a Christian, so it is hard for me to think of recs that don't lean that way. If I think or find some more, I will be sure to post. I was not raised in a Christian home and I remembering questioning the same things when I was her age. That was when I first started noticing my friend's religious/spiritual beliefs and I didn't understand what to believe. Glad to see you are letting her formulate her own beliefs with some guidance. By not being pushed into any "religion" by my parents, I sought out and developed a closer relationship with God. Sorry for rambling on. I know you just asked for recs. :)
