S/O Christmas Gifts - Monster Jam

Looking into "experience" Christmas gifts, and was thinking about sending DH and DS to Monster Jam.  DS has been very into "Blaze and the Monster Machines" lately so I think he may enjoy it.  (Why it is always over Valentine's weekend, I'll never understand!  Totally not romantic!!)

Has anyone ever gone or sent their LO's?  Was it a good event?

I am struggling to figure out what seats to buy.  The frugal part of me wants to get the cheapest ones possible, but not if the experience wouldn't be the same.  It will just be DH and DS, I will have the new LO to take care of by then, and Monster Jam doesn't seem the best environment for a newborn.  ;-)  So, getting the more expensive seats wouldn't be too out of the question for just two, but they don't have kids prices for the middle tier, only for the "cheap seats."

Just looking for feedback and thoughts!

  • We took the boys last year, and will probably take them again this year. They LOVED it. We had tickets on the first level, about 6 rows back (they block off the bottom half of the first level as a "crash zone, in case of an errant flip or something).

It's really, really, loud. we took ear protection for everyone, and it was still loud. The boys stayed interested the whole show. There was an accident where a truck flipped over and got stuck on its roof. The boys thought that was the best thing ever.

  • I was going to say, I hear it's loud.  My dad took my brother way way back when and didn't know about the noise level issue.  I think they ending up leaving because it was too loud.

  • Thanks for this.  I do have ear protection for S.  I'll have to make sure DH has some too.  I can't wait for them to go!  I think they'll love it.
  • Keefer went two years ago with DH and my Dad.  They had a great time.  I think they were in the cheap seats and it was fine.  Definitely make sure they have ear protection.  I went as a kid and it was loud and Keefer and DH confirmed it is still just as loud.  The kids stuff coupon book for Pittsburgh has $5 off coupons if you have the book or know anyone who does.
