Re: Monday Accountability
Our mortgage has been officially recast, so starting in December we will be making an extra $500 in principal only payments every month.
I'm thankful for my family, for my ability to stay home with my son, and for a wonderful group of friends.
1. Friday- $0
Saturday- $8 grocery store
Sunday- $26 Chinese food
2. $133 to house DP fund
$5,000 payment to mortgage principle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Working on our next $5,000 now
So I missed the boat on checking our end of contract date for phone/int/cable and the bill that came in jumped from $185 to $219 (gotta love Comcast), so I was able to call and get it lowered back to $185 with some added channels. Since I haven't been hearing good things about AT&T (now Frontier), we are deciding to skip checking around for deals with them, and just stick to our current plan. Although I may pop into Verizon and see that deals they have for Xfinity on Tuesday and see if we can lower it some more from there. I hear Verizon has a $20 phone line, so maybe we can just get internet and basic cable through them.
3. I'm thankful that I have the sweetest husband in the world, he does everything for me! I'm glad my family is healthy and my dad's skin cancer hasn't returned. I'm also thankful that H and I have the jobs that we do and are affording HCOL the way we are. I'm just hoping we can get my dogs GI issue in tact with this new GI doctor we are seeing.
1. How MM was your weekend?
Not bad at all. $100 in groceries Friday night, $20 in pet supplies and that's it.
However, got side swiped by a guy while grocery shopping Friday night. Wasn't my fault and everything was okay. It totaled out his car, but only crinkled my door and put scratches down the side of my car. Hopefully this shouldn't cost me any money, but the insurance company he is insured through has me concerned for how horribly this will be handled (I'm an insurance agent).
2. Any progress towards goals?
Just cash flowing the remodeling project and hopefully putting some in savings this month.
3. In the spirit of Thanksgiving soon, what are you thankful for?
I'm so thankful to be pregnant. It's very cliche yes, but we had 3 losses before this pregnancy and needed fertility treatments to get pregnant (that my husband was against). I am thankful for being able to get pregnant without treatment and that this baby is growing perfectly in there.

1. How MM was your weekend? Pretty good- groceries ($145), target ($76), dinner with DH's parents ($52)
2. Any progress towards goals? Nothing new this week
3. In the spirit of Thanksgiving soon, what are you thankful for? I'm thankful for my girls, my husband, our health, wealth, and happiness.
1. How MM was your weekend?
I'm pretty sure we only bought groceries for $75 and i got enough meat to last us through the month so the next few trips should be much cheaper.
2. Any progress towards goals?
Don't know yet.
3. In the spirit of Thanksgiving soon, what are you thankful for?
My healthy baby boy i get to meet in a few months..
1. How MM was your weekend?
Pretty good. $30 for a neighborhood party and another $30 at Lowes for supplies to finish our patio.
2. Any progress towards goals?
No money towards non-retirement savings this month, but I feel progress has been made in other ways. This weekend we finished building a huge brick patio in our backyard. I really dug up some bargains on the supplies and we did all the work ourselves., Now that it is done, the project totaled $800. I think that is pretty good, considering how nice it looks and its size. :
Also, I found a beautiful (and very large) canvas print on the side of the road this weekend. I looked it up online and discovered that it costs $400!!! It looks absolutely amazing in our dining room.
Finally, I just paid off my LAST CAR PAYMENT!!! woohoo! Feels great, considering that this is the first car that I bought all on my own with no help from my parents. H's car is also paid off, so we will hopefully be car payment free for a few years!
3. In the spirit of Thanksgiving soon, what are you thankful for?
My amazing husband and parents; adorable dog, dream job, and our tiny home that is located in a neighborhood that is everything that I could ever hope for a neighborhood to be.
1. How MM was your weekend?
Not bad, considering. We went to Nashville for a wedding and spent about $30 eating out for the weekend. $40 on gas and $120 on groceries. All in all, decent.
2. Any progress towards goals?
Nothing MM. However, we have decided on our 2015 trip, and we've put down deposits for that. I'm super excited! H and I both got through a ton of work at our jobs last week. Q4 is really busy for corporate lawyers. Everybody has to close their deal before Dec. 31.
3. In the spirit of Thanksgiving soon, what are you thankful for?
I'm thankful for our good health, our families, and our jobs. I'm thankful that we both work for law firms who care about retaining young lawyers, and they provide us with benefits, resources, and (most importantly) TIME so that we stay happy with our jobs and can have a life while practicing. I'm also grateful for the group of partners I work for. This time last year the firm we were at was sinking, and the partners I work for found an opportunity to move all of us to this new firm with better job security. They also made sure that every associate, paralegal, and secretary in my practice group was offered a job without an interview. They refused to move unless they could take us with them. Working with people you genuinely like contributes so much to overall happiness, and I know we're both lucky to have that.
1. How MM was your weekend? Not too bad, spent $20 at target getting my son underwear and the family dart guns. Was over budget on groceries by $20.
2. Any progress towards goals? Not this week, did call AT&T today to get a new "package" to reduce my bill from the new rate of $173 down to $120, which is still $15 more than what it was for the past year. We do get their best package for 3 months which will be partially MW's maternal leave.
3. In the spirit of Thanksgiving soon, what are you thankful for? For everything in my life, I have a good family both mine and in-laws. I got job that I like and MW loves her job.
1. How MM was your weekend? Not too bad! Chinese takeout Friday night ($15) and then a wedding on Saturday. Sunday we went to church and then lunch out ($25). I did go to Costco for a stock-up, and spent about $200 in groceries. And I stocked up on fall candles at Bath & Body Works (4 big ones for $20 dollars - yay coupons on top of a sale!)
2. Any progress towards goals? A small amount toward my student loan. Next month *fingers crossed* we should dip below the $10,000 mark!
3. In the spirit of Thanksgiving soon, what are you thankful for? So much. A thoughtful, smart, hardworking and kind husband. A brother who is my best friend. Parents who were incredible role models for marriage (and money!). A job where I have the opportunity to help children and families. And an incredible group of friends.
1) We did pretty well. Stayed in for most of the weekend. Used movie vouchers so that was free but spent a little cash to get movie theater food which we never do. Their prices are insane! Also got some food post-movie. Went to Walmart on Sunday for some house things/food. Spent about $80 total.
2) Well ever since I found out I was pregnant, I've basically wanted to do nothing and hubs has also kicked his craft beer habit for the time being so I feel like we're saving quite a bit with just those two things! For everything else we've been paying our minimum payments to save up for my maternity leave.
3) I'm so thankful for my husband these days. He's pretty much become a super hero with how much he's been helping around the house and with errands. I'm also thankful we have a roof over our heads and jobs to support us as well as learning from our parents to have a lifestyle within our means.
