I used to be super organized and felt that I was on top of everything. Since Nolan was born (almost 3 years ago) I always feel like I'm living in a state of chaos at home. I always feel like I'm behind the 8 ball trying to keep up with everything. Anyone else experienced this? Any things you've done to improve?
I feel like I'm always ordering/buying things we need at the last minute (ie:halloween costumes; classroom treats). Nolan's birthday party is next week, and I didn't even get the invitations out yet. Then add in trying to keep up with school/preschool events, papers, stuff I'm required to do, I feel so overwhelmed all of the time.
I still feel on top of things at work--so there is a positive, but at home I'm always a few steps behind.
Re: Being Organized
Dd's bday party was early June and I think I started looking for ideas after Christmas. Dd already knew what she wanted. I knew I'd be doing a lot of handmade things so I just started writing lists of everything to keep organized. Starting early gives me the time to do lots of things and not have to rush. But this only works if your kid is consistent with what they like! Luckily did has been the last few years.
Detailed task lists are my friend, otherwise I veg out as soon as the kids are in bed and nothing gets done. If I have a list of things that have to be each evening, I stay much more on top of things.
Also, our shared google calendar helps quite a bit.
DD's birthday is in February. She has at least five different ideas about the kind of party she wants. I told her I'm willing to start discussing it on January 1st!
