Re: ATTN: fellow Christmas music lovers!!

  • Gah! 94.5 has also started their Christmas music. Currently playing at my desk a shuffle of Pandora Christmas stations. Definitely a thumbs down to the Christmas Shoes if it shows up!
  • I may or may not have been listening to Christmas music since November 1 on Pandora and XM, however, I was still giddy when I was switching stations this morning and heard Rudolph!

  • I found it on Sirius last week and was excited.  I switched over yesterday and it was "Another Auld Lang Syne", which I can't decide if it's better or worse than the Christmas shoes!
  • I think I say this every year--but I don't mind the Christmas shoes.  That kid's heart is in the right place.

  • This is why I don't like the Christmas shoes.  It's SAD.  I don't want my Xmas songs to be sad...I like them to be happy.   Second, if the kid's mom is ready to breathe her last breath, why in the world is the dad all "Hey kid, run out and get your mom some shoes now".   I know it's just a song and it's supposed to be about the message, but I just think if it was me or DH dying, the last thing I'd be okay with is my kid going to a store to get us some fancy shoes.
  • You need to read the book! It is a quick read and it makes the song make more sense. I still hate the song and the book is cliche and a total tearjeaker. I am sure if it hasn't already it will be made into a Lifetime or Hallmark movie.

  • Oh and to all you listening to Christmas music, I leave this:

  • If anyone has Amazon Prime, I was excited to discover that Amazon Music has a ton of free Christmas songs available for play/download. I've never purchased a glee album, but I was downloading all of their christmas songs this morning :-D

Kris, it was a movie, I remember seeing it on CBS one year.

  • What I hate about the Christmas shoes song is that it is a cliche and intentionally sad story.  It's my pet peeve when people purposely play on emotions.  (Like sappy songs at pre-school graduations.)

I also have no shame in listening to Christmas music in November!  I'm a 'Tis the SEASON kind of girl.  My season includes Thanksgiving and Christmas (plus my birthday, holla!) and it starts on November 1.  What can I say, I like to enjoy my turkey and stuffing, with a side of Bing Crosby!

  • I usually *try* to wait until the week of Thanksgiving to bust out the Christmas carols, but I feel like the Christmas season is being ripped off this year...there's hardly any time between Thanksgiving and Christmas!  there are only 3 weekends in December, people!!!  My decorations will have to go up shortly after thanksgiving with the tree up the following weekend....if I'm going through the hassle of dragging all of that down and putting it all up around the house, I want to enjoy it, dammit!  especially since I start having anxiety attacks on December 26th and want it all torn down as soon as possible.

We leave ours up until after Orthodox Christmas on January 6th so it usually doesn't come down until mid-January. Plus, I have cute Thanksgiving decorations!

  • I do give the turkey his decorations (I have cute Thanksgiving decorations).  However, there is no Thanksgiving music.  Why can't it be both?   I'll watch Christmas movies all weekend, listen to Christmas music all the while enjoying my turkeys and pilgrims.   See...equal opportunity!
  • Amen, Amber!!  Equal opportunity all around here!! :)  I still have up my turkey day decor, too.  I partially blame the early snow that has me all a flutter for Christmas this year!!

  • Growing up we didn't put our tree up until Christmas Eve and my mom never decorated until after my brother's birthday on the 6th so when I moved out, I did the same. Plus, (cover head now), I am not a huge fan of Christmas music. I like it sometimes but for the most part I am pretty, meh, on it. I actually prefer Christmas church music to anything.

Off the topic somewhat but I turned on Sex & the City movie by chance the other night and it was the scene on New Years Eve and this hauntingly beautiful version of Auld Lang Syne was played (by Mairi Campbell I later googled) and i.was.bawling! Really stinks that song only gets played on one day.

That scene makes me cry every. single. time.

  • I love Christmas music but am trying to resist until after Thanksgiving.  My cubicle neighbor is spoiling that plan.  If Snoopy's Christmas comes on her radio it might be all over with a full cave in.  We are taking down Thanksgiving this weekend and putting up the tree so it would make sense to listen to some music this weekend...
