I went off of my BC a couple of months after we got married, so around June 2011. I had gone on BC when I was 16 because I was not having regular periods. So I always had a feeling that I may have trouble getting pregnant, but was hoping for the best. Well I never got a period, so I had to go to the OB and she gave me Provera to start my period and put me on 1000 mg of Metformin. She did some testing and said it looked like I may have PCOS. She ended up giving me a referral to an RE.

We met with the RE in early 2012 and he confirmed that it looked like PCOS. We decided to try a Clomid/IUI cycle in June 2012. Unfortunately, I didn't respond to the Clomid and we had to cancel the cycle. He wanted to move ahead to injectables, but we couldn't afford it at the time (insurance covered none of it). So we just tried on our own for a while, even though I still wasn't having regular cycles.

In the meantime, I went to a new OB and she said we could try upping my dosage of Metformin to 1500 mg. I finally did have a cycle on my own after this, but it was still a really long cycle. I decided to try acupuncture and had my initial consult in December 2012. My insurance didn't cover this either, so I started going just once a week. The results were amazing! I went from having no periods, to slightly longer cycles, to cycles where I actually O'd around CD 19 (which was amazing for me!). Still no luck getting pregnant though.

We did another treatment cycle, this time with Femara/IUI in July 2013. I did respond to the Femara, but this cycle still ended up with a BFN and I was heartbroken. It was around this time that we were going to move in with my mom for a few months while our house was being built. It was the very next cycle (a natural cycle) that I got my BFP. Our son was then born May 9, 2014 after 2 years of trying.
