Where are you headed for Thanksgiving this year?  What are you cooking?

I'm in Canada so we did our Thanksgiving last month.  I had to work all through the holiday so we didn't go anywhere.  But we did do a Friendsgiving meal at the end of October and made turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, veggies and tomato soup cake.

It's just H and I staying at home this year. It's such a stress free Thanksgiving, it's wonderful! I'm still cooking for an army, so we'll have leftovers for days!

On the Menu:

**"Special Soup" the Italian Wedding Soup I talked about a few days ago...my cousins and I renamed it "Special Soup" when we were little

***Roasted Turkey Breast

***Mashed Potatoes

***Apple and Onion Stuffing

***"Lazy Mushrooms" my Nonna came up the recipe, it involves opening the pre chopped mushroom package, throwing it in a casserole dish and tossing with breadcrumbs, parsley, parm cheese, and olive oil then throwing it in the oven while the turkey cooks. SO EASY!

*** Roasted Brussels Sprouts with pancetta and a bourbon glaze

***Homemade gravy

*** Homemade cranberry sauce

***Apple pie

We're doing thanksgiving day at H's parents' house. My parents are doing their dinner on the Sunday after since they'll be out for the day. No idea what anyone is making yet. I think my parents usually do turkey, while his family does both turkey and a small ham.

I found a recipe on pinterest for honey wheat rolls that I'm going to attempt for both days.
H was also put in charge of dessert by his mom so I'm trying to find something easy for that.

No Thanksgiving happening here, H is working all day so the baby and I are hanging out in our PJ's all day.

Thanksgiving at my Grandma's who lives next door to my parents, about 10 minutes from our apartment.  I have a huge family so there is a lot of food.

Menu:

-Turkey

-Stuffing

-Mashed potatoes and gravy

-Glazed carrot coins

-Oyster dressing

-Brussel sprout casserole

-Rolls

-French string beans

-Macaroni and cheese (by me)

-Crudite platter (by me)

-Cheese ball (me again)

-Spinach salad

-Shrimp cocktail

Pies

-Pecan (4)

-Pumpkin (2)

-Persimmon pudding

-Sugar cream pie (it's an Indiana specialty)

Before we head up to Grandma's, my little brother, DH and I hang out at my parents and have champagne and cheese with fruit as our own little family celebration.  It's my favorite part of the day, away from the craziness next door.  I love having a big family, but I also cherish the little moments with just them.  I sit at the bar and watch my dad finish the turkey and listen to the parade.  I LOVE the parade!!

We usually go to both families, but my mom had Thanksgiving last Sunday.  We're going to visit my parents for a bit before heading to H's parents house.

His family is big and pretty much has everything- turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, artichokes.  I can't remember everything.  There is so much food, we all eat on the edge of the table.  I am making my grandmother's stuffing this year for H's family.

Usually we go to Greenville, SC to visit H's nana. This year I'm staying behind to watch my poor, sweet puppy. I couldn't justify asking someone else to take care of her. 

I've had multiple local invites for celebrating, but I think I'm just going to go to one of our good friends. I want to keep an eye on baby girl as best I can, so I don't need to go to 3, although it's tempting!! So I have no idea what's on the menu.

@brainybrunette, those lazy mushrooms sound AMAZING.

^^^The lazy mushrooms are amazing! So easy and everyone loves them! My Nonna was a genius when she came up with that recipe : )

To be completely honest I would be perfectly OK spending Thanksgiving in the hospital.

The plan is to go to DH's family's celebration for a bit.  They are doing an 11 AM thing.  Then heading on to my Uncle's house.  (My mom's twin that is 8 years older than her.  My Grandma had 2 sets of twins.  They always joke about how they are twins 8 years apart.)

Thursday we are heading to H's cousin house in NJ, about 2 hours away, there is going to be approx. 30 people and I don't know how that is going to happen comfortably--thats if we can shovel out of this snow storm!

Friday- since I am going to H's family Thurs and my sister is going to her in laws we are having thanksgiving all over again at my parents so no one is left out, they live 15-20 min away.

Thanksgiving was last month, we had 2 dinners. One at each set of parents.

We're traveling in 3 weeks to spend Christmas with my grandparents so they can meet DS.

We are staying put and having it at my mom and dads tomorrow.  My moms mom, sister, and sisters girlfriend came to visit from El Paso and my brother will be coming over.  Also, some friends that are celebrating with their family on Friday are coming to celebrate with us tomorrow.

Tomorrow H and I are going to spend the day with his family. They do a pretty traditional menu; turkey, stuffing, etc. I'm bringing dessert. Pumpkin pie and eggnog custard pie.

Saturday we're going out to visit my mom and godmother and doing Thanksgiving redux. For that one, I'm making squash and apple gratin and from-scratch cranberry sauce.

On Thursday, we have Thanksgiving lunch at my grandma's & then dinner at my MIL's. Friday, we're going to my parents' friends' house for dinner. And Saturday, we have my family's Thanksgiving/Christmas celebration. By Saturday, I will have made 2 batches of green bean casserole & 4 pumpkin rolls (I hope). I'm exhausted just thinking about everything.

xxjen015 - It's mostly a little of this, a little of that. This year I bought 2.5lbs of sliced mushrooms..add enough breadcrumbs and parm cheese to coat the mushrooms well. I forgot to mention above that I also add garlic (probably 2 cloves for the 2.5lbs of mushrooms). A good handful of chopped parsley, salt (not too much because the cheese is usually kind of salty to begin with), and pepper. Drizzle with olive oil, and toss to mix everything. Put in the oven until the mushrooms cook down and brown and the edges get a little crispy.
