Hi there! You may have seen my previous post a few months ago about the "House Hunting Blues", and my update that included exciting news about our accepted offer! While my husband and I are in the process of closing on the home and having our mortgage underwritten, we decided to take advantage of Black Friday sales and upgrade our appliances (we needed new laundry and refrigerator anyway).
For all of you future homebuyers, or couples who are currently looking for a home, I strongly urge you to either buy around the holidays or limp by with preexisting appliances until Black Friday rolls around. We got an outstanding deal from Home Depot which resulted in us SAVING $3,300 (while spending a little over $5k) on our appliances, all of which are top-rated by previous purchasers and Consumer Reports. Here's a breakdown of what we were able to score:
Samsung French door fridge with built-in ice and water dispenser, stainless steel: Retail - $3,299. Black Friday - $1,898 / Savings $1,401
Samsung Duo-Flex range (can convert from one regular-sized oven to two, smaller ovens with different temperatures), stainless steel: Retail - $1,599. Black Friday - $998 / Savings $601
Samsung over the range microwave, stainless steel: Retail - $449. Black Friday - $298 / Savings $151
KitchenAid dishwasher, stainless steel: *We found this at Lowe's for over $200 less, so Home Depot price matched it to $598 from the $808 they had advertised*: Retail - $899. Black Friday (less Lowe's price match) - $598 / Savings $300
LG Washer & Dryer: Retail - $749/ea. Black Friday - $549/ea / Savings $400.
All of these savings were combined with a $450 bonus price reduction for buying 6 appliances. Just to let you know, we weren't particular about where we purchased from between Lowe's, Home Depot, Best Buy and some smaller, local appliances retailers but ended up going with Home Depot because of their price matching, free delivery and installation, bonus $450 cash back and ability to schedule deliver for up to 90 days post-purchase. Also, I asked the sales associate if the prices they quoted as their regular prices and they confirmed that, with the exception of a smaller sale in July, these were the true sales prices throughout the rest of the year. Thank goodness our home purchase coincided with such great deals!
I hope this helps!!
