Ideas for a Boston trip

My co-worker just defended his thesis, so his boyfriend is taking him on a trip to Boston in late January to celebrate. I'd love to hear ideas of:

-Nice restaurants (they're a bit food-snobby like me, so pricey is okay!)
-Events/things to do (they're not really into sports, but would enjoy music/cultural-type events)

Thanks :)

  • I just lurk on here, but I live just outside of Boston, so I thought I'd help.

    1. Barbara Lynch restaurants are great: No. 9 Park or Sportello are my favorites.  Drink is just below No. 9 Park and it's the best. bar. ever.
    Oleana in Cambridge
Blu in Cambridge and Belly Bar next store is really fun (also the setting of my husband's and I first date)
Toro is the best tapas restaurant in the city, but they take no reservations, so be prepared to wait.  It's worth it.
    Lineage in Brookline
    Island Creek Oysters for seafood
Clio or Menton for very high end dining
That's what comes to mind quickly.

If you'd like cheap eats or any type of ethnic food, let me know.

    2. Museum of Fine Arts- one of the best Egyptian exhibits outside of Egypt
Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum- the building itself is spectacular
The entire freedom trail- I recommend doing only parts of it as it's extremely long!
For music, look into what's playing at Symphony Hall or Berklee Performance Center.

    Enjoy!

  • I refuse to answer this question because you got my hopes up way too high. Not cool!
  • Thanks BlueBird.

@Bruinsbabe33 and @oceanhutt - Sorry to be such a jerk!  BUT, we are hoping to make it there in late spring early summer and I, of course, would love to see you.
