This Thursday will be our 2nd month anniversary! It's been such an amazing first two months and we've had so much fun!

However... I've completely let go of my health & fitness while I've embraced a whole new life with my husband.

Before the wedding, I was extremely dedicated to getting in shape and being as healthy as possible. I wanted my skin/hair/nails to be beautiful and healthy and I wanted to look fit and skinny. I also have a disorder similar to diabetes that makes my body unable to metabolize sugar effectively- so I've always been very very careful about my carb/sugar intake.

The past couple months since being married have been a huge YOLO!!! I've eaten food that I swore off years ago. I've only worked out about twice. We spend a lot of nights curled up on the couch or bed watching movies. We've been eating out almost every meal. It's been super fun and relaxing- especially after the stressfulness of planning a wedding- but it's definitely taken a toll on my health!

I think I've gained about 15 pounds! AHHHHH!!! That's embarrassing! It's time to go back to being healthy! I would like to start a lifestyle with my husband that always includes healthy eating and fitness. I don't want to get into a life-long habit of living lazy and unhealthy.

So, does anyone have advice about starting a healthy lifestyle/routine with a new marriage?

Also, would like accountability partners if anyone is intererested. I'm starting today, December 1st! Ending- NEVER!

  • 1. Schedule workouts. Keep them like a business meeting or a dr appt. You have to make it a priority and then it will be a habit.

same with meal planning. try to eat good most of the time, like maybe start 50/50 then gradually add more Good less Bad. I guess, try to get up to 80% of your foods are low fat, fresh , healthy stuff. less restaurants, sweets, convenience foods etc.

My heart is as open as the sky.

2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

  • While it's ultimately up to YOU to follow through with the healthier eating & exercising, it is boatloads easier if your husband is on the same page.  If he works out, you'll feel bad if you don't.  That's very helpful motivation to have!  Talk it over with him and see if he wants to be healthy too!

I agree with OatGirl12 that he needs to be on board with it as well.  I think at home workout would be a great way for the both of you to workout together.  I am currently doing P90 and I am loving it so far- http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/p90-workout.do  It comes with a schedule which will help keep you guys accountable and it also has a great meal plan to learn how to eat healthy at the same time.  I hope this helps and congrats to the both of you.
  • If hubs is on board it makes it SO much easier. Mine used to bring home Doritos and Oreos all the time thinking he was being sweet. Now he'll send an Edible Arrangement lol. I have found that 21 day fix is the best program for me. I have two small kids and limited time to workout. Since the workouts are only 30 minutes I have no problems squeezing them in. And the biggest plus for me is the meal plan. It's SUPER easy to follow and I can make all of our favorite foods for dinner that my kids and husband like and make them 21 day fix appropriate for me!! Win win :)
