And he's already 11 days old. I had no idea how much work a newborn is, especially with nursing. I feel like each day just kind of flies by.
My due date was Tuesday 12/9, but my water broke at 3:45am on Saturday 12/6. I went back to bed for an hour, and then we both got up & got showered and hit the road. We stopped at the diner on our way in, which was a good thing since Lankenau would only allow ice pops while I was in labor. Speaking of labor...it wasn't too bad, but pushing was a lot harder than I expected, especially once the epidural wore off. I finally delivered Baby J at 1:39am Sunday morning, about 22 hours after my water broke. I was so worn out, having been without sleep or food for almost an entire day.
Recovery has been super easy, which was a nice surprise. Nursing, on the other hand, is kicking my butt! Just when I think I have it figured out, I have another issue. Things seem to be improving, so fingers crossed!
Here's a pic of my favorite little guy! PDQ because I'm going to delete later.
Re: He's Here!
Nursing isn't always easy. The beginning is hard but if you get past that initial rough period it gets easier usually. I'm so glad recovery is going well too! Keep us posted on how you are doing when you have a spare moment (as if those exist)
Thanks ladies! He'll be 6 months on Sunday, and I feel like we are finally getting a handle on things. Thanks for the offer @NewQueen - I return to work on the 26th, and will need to start pumping a lot more than I have been. I'm sure I'll be reaching out to you for pumping tips, because as of right now, I'm lucky if I get 2oz using a double pump.
