Saw the movie, should I read the book?
I am thinking about what book to read next and am wondering about Gone Girl. I like the movie. Should I read the book?
Second question: what other books/movies do you recommend or not recommend?
I think it is worthwhile to see the movie and read the book for Perks of Being a Wallflower. The book is a quick read but has more in it than could fit in the movie. Once you read the book and then see the movie you can appreciate how the movie edited down but still kept the spirit of the book. And it is always fun to see Pgh onscreen.
I liked Beautiful Mind the movie but hated the book. It was so boring.
Re: Saw the movie, should I read the book?
I've heard GG left out some things and s few differences but it doesn't sound IMO worth reading the book afterwards. The best part of the book was the twists otherwise I didn't really overly love the book.
For other books/movies...obviously Harry Potter, the Hunger Games series (I think they have done a pretty good job with all the movies). Last year I read the fault in our stars and watched the movie those were both pretty good. The book thief is one of my favorite books but I haven't gotten a chance to watch the movie yet. Divergent was a fun read and I thought they did well with the movie (the rest of the series I didn't love as much).
A few years ago...The Help...loved both.
I feel like there was something more recent that I read that I saw the movie for and really liked but I can't remember!
I loved the book 11/22/63 and think it would be an amazing movie. I've heard it's been optioned for cable series/mini series with JJAbrams. I hope they don't screw it up which is often the case with Kings stuff on tv but maybe cable will provide some hope.
I've wanted to read unbroken but haven't yet and am torn about seeing the movie. I know of I see the movie I won't end up reading the book.
Anyways with all the above I read the books first. I love reading and while I'm sometimes disappointed by movie versions I still love seeing a book I read ms imagined come to life.
