Book suggestions for 2015 Monthly Reads

Let's try this again. I miss reading books together! We don't have to make it ultra complicated, how about everyone just suggest some books and we'll vote and pick for January-April with that list, then do suggestions/voting again around the beginning of April for May-August . Yes? No?

Let's hear some suggestions. They can be from any genre but I know in the past we have tried to stay away from brand new releases because of price and library hold lists.

  • How about The Martian?  I know a lot of people have read it, but I don't remember if there has been a lot of discussion about it.  Plus that will help me finish it!

I tried to read this and could not get into it so I might be more prone to trying again if other people were reading it.

I'd go with any of these. Stupid Nest isn't allowing me to log in on my phone.

Wool is a good discussion choice too. I loved the entire series and would talk about it with anyone who's reading it!

Story of a Happy Marriage looked interesting and I abide by glowing reviews from Jacki.

  • Has anyone read My Name is Memory by Ann Brashares? Im reading it right now and really enjoying it. I believe it came out in 2010 so its a few years old. I think that this book could spark some good conversations.

It's really helpful to narrow it down. I'm probably going to need a "really excited to read" next with top 5 haha.

    I LOVE his books!

@myJunegirls I don't mean to resurrect an old thread, but do you have any recs for his books? I was at a used bookstore tonight and couldn't make up my mind.

  • Have we decided on The Girl with All the Gifts? I just saw on GR that Maggie Stiefvater recommended it. I would pretty much read anything she writes or recommends.

Maggie Stiefvater The most sure-footed novel I've read all year. A dystopian thriller with a real, beating heart. Recommend. Recommend. Recommend.
