Vent.

We are 18 days from closing on the dream home we've been building for 10 months, and the neighbors across from us just erected a HUGE (3 story) ugly playscape in their backyard that overlooks our backyard (and like, several other people's!) We're so unhappy because this virtually dominates the view from our living room and kitchen. I already contacted HOA, who said it might be a problem because this playscape goes past the roof line. They are submitting photos. The sales rep said it is so tall that she would not let her own children play on it for fear of injury. To make matters worse, this thing has BRIGHT yellow slides and is decked out in primary colors. It just pops and stands out so much. I cannot imagine how someone could purchase this ugly thing to put in their yard! It's making me doubt the entire purchase, but we already have 10K of escrow money into the project. UGH!

Re: Vent.

  • Your rights end at your property line. In your case, maybe the HOA can do something about it, maybe they can't. Depends on how the HOA is written.

  • That's what I would call offensive.  Especially if you have to look at it everyday. Maybe you can nicely ask the homeowner to remove the top level if possible....?
  • That does sound ugly, and potentially unsafe, but I wouldn't let it stop you from enjoying your new home. If it's against regulations, hopefully the HOA will handle it.
