Long weekend plans?

First of all, I know you've all heard me complain about this.  So, for the first time in SEVENTEEN years, I actually have a DAY OFF on Monday and not a lame "Day On".   HOLLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So what are you up to on this long weekend?  (and if you don't have Monday off, I feel your pain!)

Re: Long weekend plans?

  • WOW, Amber!!!  I'm so excited for you!  Did they change the policy or did you take a vacation day??

Tonight: my in laws are coming in for the weekend and my parents are also joining us for dinner tonight, we're going to order some food and hang out for Jake's bday.

Saturday/Sunday: no real plans other than heading to church on Sunday, we'll just hang out with the in laws, maybe get outside tomorrow since it looks to be a bit warmer and sunny.

Monday: the boys and I are headed to a friend's house in the morning for a big group playdate/moms hang out and Brian is going skiing with his cousin.

    Enjoy the long weekend everyone!!

  • We got a new president and he finally  just declared it a university holiday.  He is my favorite president ever.

Friday - my brother is taking the boys for an overnight date, I'm getting my haircut and then DH and I are going to dinner and maybe stopping at Verizon to see about getting new phones.  (Which is so much easier to do without kids in tow!)

Saturday - Get the kids back at some point. Hip Hop class at gym and probably clean/organize Brody's room.  We did Noah's last weekend and it looks so nice.

Sunday - WW, church, laundry, Noah has a birthday party to go to.

Monday - enjoy my first day off for MLK day by spending a "day on" my couch.

  • One last Christmas party on Saturday.

Other than that not a lot of formal plans.  I look forward to getting some organization done at the house, watching DVDs and going to the gym.

We'll probably celebrate Monday off by going out to brunch.

  • Does the whole school get a full day this year?

I still remember no day off at all my freshman year. I think they switched to "a day on, not off" my sophomore year.

We have a birthday party for one of Michael's classmates Saturday--it's a woman I've met once hosting, and she's asking all the families attending to bring a dish to share. This is my first experience with a party like that. Should be interesting. I don't know that I'd want to serve food from people I've never met.

Sunday I'm having brunch, and then we're taking M to Chuck E Cheese for a very belated potty training celebration. We promised we'd do it when he was 100% trained with no accidents, then never did it. We're meeting one of my friends and her kids there :)

    No plans for Monday yet.

  • I work Monday, so no long weekend for me :-(  DH and the kids are off though.  We are taking the kids to see Click Clack Moo (Elsey's favorite book) at Moon High School tonight.  Then no set plans for the rest of the weekend.  We will probably walk down to the bakery tomorrow morning just to get out and enjoy some above freezing temperatures.  I should probably take down my Christmas decorations too.

  • Work has been hell for the last month, and DH was traveling all week, so I've hit a wall.  I'm just hoping I can make it through this weekend without having to work, and hopefully able to squeeze in a nap or two!

Tonight, Mason and I are going to TRU.  We have some birthday parties coming up, including Garrett's b-day, so we have some shopping to do.  (Mason wants to get Garrett the "poop game", Lord help me).  After, we'll order food and watch TV.

Saturday, we have soccer registration, then taking Mason to a b-day party.

    Sunday, I have brunch.

Monday, DH works, but I'm off with the boys...not sure what we'll do yet!

Tomorrow - I have a hair appointment and Hayden has social skills. No other plans at this point.

Sunday - Hopefully getting together with my brother and his family.

Monday - Gary works, Hayden has an appointment in the morning and then we might hang out with my mom & dad for a little while.

  • Lisa - yes, it's a university holiday this year.  No classes, offices closed.

And I agree with Emmy, I'd never ask people I don't know to bring food to a party.   First of all, it's your kids birthday party, that means you throw the party and you don't ask people to supply the food. And second of all, what if they are less than hygienic.   Squicked out!

I also agreed - I'd be all  :-/ at a kids party requiring me to bring a dish.

Tonight - I'm going to a specialty yoga class at my studio
Tomorrow - Getting takeout, that's about it
Sunday - DH has plans, so I'll hang out with the kiddo
    Monday - Nothing at all:)

Tonight: Happy Hour with the husband

Saturday: Nathan is helping his friend move. I have to run to the vet to pick up a prescription for the dog, then I may stop for coffee with my mom. I have to go to Dick's and return my new gloves since they are missing a button and then I may run to Ross Park.

Sunday: Brunch with some friends and then Target and Trader Joe's run.

Monday: I will be working. :( BUT my boss is on vacation next week and then has a convention so at least there is that silver lining!

I am going with this is weird! If you can't afford to feed people, then make your party at a time when people don't expect a meal and serve cake.

  • I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one who things that this birthday party request is odd.

I'll have to report back how the party was.

Yes, weird!  I have never heard of this before.
  • My weekend started early being post-call today!  Got a nap, workout, shower and housework done by now!  Tonight...relaxing!

Saturday:  birthday party and possibly having friends up

Sunday:  maybe heading to the Science Center

Monday:  off but hubby is working...we have an oil change scheduled so I'm hoping to get some shopping done

    Really, it's a relaxation!

  • TGIF! Have a great weekend!

Tonight: easy night in; heavy apps dinner and watching shows on the DVD

Saturday: Grocery shopping in the morning for me while the boys run around outside and burn off energy (today is the first day in 8 days that we've seen the sun!)

Afternoon - We are fostering a puppy and the rescue group has a 2x/month meet-up to try to get the dogs adopted out, so I have that from 1-4p. (I hope this guy gets adopted soon bc he is stressing out my Holly girl!). Take-out for dinner (Chinese maybe?).

Sunday: Mass and then Gavin has a bday party to go to at the local movie theater, so DH is going to take him and then see a movie with Conall. I'll be staying home with a napping Sean and doing laundry.

Monday: We bought a car at the end of December and the dealer, apparently, never did something with one piece of paper for registration, so I need to take the car back in for another inspection in order for them to be able to apply for the license plates. Frustrating!

I have an 11am doc appt and then plan to take the older two boys to lunch and a movie, or indoor gym, in the afternoon.

  • I was hoping that the headliner of our weekend would be "Have a baby" but that is not looking likely.  :-(

Due date is Sun, but no progress/dilation at all...apparently my pelvic opening is flat and not arched, so it's not looking hopeful for a VBAC.  I have  non-stress test on Mon and Thurs, and on Thurs if nothing is happening yet, we'll schedule surgery.  (Silly to induce with no dilation.)  I'm pretty bummed today.
  • @northhillsbride I want to know more about your heavy apps dinner--sounds yummy.  What are you having?

  • I'm working, so screw all of you ! :P

But I was in Fort Lauderdale Weds - Fri so that's something.  Although I was in meetings or dinner the entire time save for 45 minutes spent on the beach Thursday afternoon.  Windy and chilly (aka low 70s) so no tan here!

c So I guess I was wrong. So was the doctor! My water broke Saturday at 10:00pm and Cecily June arrived yesterday at 2:20pm via VBAC. I am shocked at how much better I feel than last time!
  • Oh my gosh!! Congratulations, Dena!!!

  • Congrats, Dena!
  • Congratulations, Dena!

Today is my kids' first day back to school this week. So I took them to my parents' house over the weekend and DH stayed with them yesterday.

I started getting a cold on the drive home and I'm slammed at work. So I'm generally feeling whiny. :-/
