Housekeeping services

Do any of you use a housekeeping service or having a person come clean? I am really thinking of hiring someone. If you don't mind sharing, how much do you pay and what all do they clean? I really am just looking for someone to come do the floors and bathrooms. I have no idea what to expect in terms of cost.

YES.  And it's worth every penny.  Life is just too fucking busy to keep up with housework too. I do maintenance cleaning, but I have someone come in to do the deep cleans every 3-4 weeks.  She charges $80 and I live in a two-bedroom apartment with one bath, a kitchen, dining room, living room, and large entryway.

This is exactly what I want to do but I haven't had the time to even vet someone to do it.
Jen, is it $80 total or per hour? Where dI'd you find them?

Total.  She was a referral.

I had someone come clean monthly and it was $120/month for our 3 bedroom/3 bathroom house.  She didn't do everything every time she came, but she always did the floors, bathrooms, kitchen, and dusting.  She was a referral from a friend of a friend and in the beginning was wonderful.  Then she started sending her husband in her place and he just didn't clean.  

The service I am looking at now is $145/month or $125 for biweekly cleaning with a team of 2-4 and according to their website checklist, they do a lot more for each cleaning.  They charge a little more for the first visit, but my house could really use a good deep clean and I am so looking forward to them coming in 2 weeks. 

I totally agree that it is worth it.  When we had the first person coming regularly, it made it easier to keep up with cleaning between her visits and I loved coming home to a clean house.

We have someone come in once a week. They usually through in a "major" cleaning item once a month as well (i.e. windows). We pay $70/week. 

I would give up just about everything before getting rid of them. My husband work 50-60 hours/week out of the home, and I refuse to clean toilets while his brother is living with us. So having cleaners do it saves us an argument, and gives us more free time with each other during the precious hours he is actually home. Plus, it is just reeeeeeeally nice.

Exactly what I was thinking of. I feel like I spend my entire weekend cleaning and don't get to spend real quality time with my son. Our house is about 2400 sq ft (3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths) so I am eager to see how much it is going to run me. I am hoping not to have to spend over $160 a month. We'll see. I am going to start asking around for referrals. Thanks so much for the replies, guys! Now I don't feel like a lazy sod for wanting such a thing.
