Welcome to our farm

So...I came home from work on Friday and DH said, "I have something to tell you.  I ordered 15 chickens."  We had very casually talked about getting chickens some day, but I didn't realized it would be so soon.

Sometime next week I'll be a mama hen.

Re: Welcome to our farm

  • My nightmare! Seriously.

Although, I think my DH would go with goats, pygmy goats.

I had pygmy goats growing up.  They make great pets :-)  I'm not upset about the chickens...just wasn't expecting that announcement on Friday.  I also assumed we would talk more in depth about it, but I'm not going to argue with fresh eggs.

  • I'm with Kris, I would just die.  I know fresh eggs are better, but I could not handle taking care of chickens.
  • I have enough to take care of: dogs, husband, house. I do not need chickens. But they wouldn't be around too long most likely between the cats, coyotes, hawks and owls.

  • Oh...no.  I will not be taking care of the chickens.  They are definitelyDH's and Brinley's project pets.  I'll just reap the benefits.  We will definitely have to take some precautions with regards to the predators in the area.

I'm excited to put them into the fenced in garden area (before we plant) as it will mean less weeding for me.
