WBC book being made into a movie: In the Heart of the Sea

I read In the Heart of the Sea by Nathaniel Philbrick for the WBC task to read a book being made into a movie in 2015. This is a fascinating nonfiction book about a whaling expedition in the 1800s that was the inspiration for Moby Dick. I loved reading about life in Nantucket and the effect that whaling had on that community and would have loved more detail in this area. The story follows 20 men who leave Nantucket on a whaling expedition and end up being rammed and sunk by a sperm whale far off the coast of South America. It details their fight to survive being stranded in a barren stretch of the Pacific Ocean, their struggle to reach safety, and the repercussions for the survivors. It was a very well written book that went by too fast. I definitely want to see the movie (plus, Chris Hemsworth) but I'm curious to see how they handle some of the topics that could be kind of hard to watch on the big screen: the descriptions of killing whales made me feel a little lightheaded, as did the condition of the survivors and the things they had to do to survive.
